Best of the Decade: Part 2 (2005-2008)

Here’s Part 2 of our contribution to the Best of the Decade group blogging event. (Click here to read Part 1.) Again, the movies on our list stand out in our minds for being entertaining, setting a standard and in some cases pushing the genre to a new place. They are in no particular order except chronological by year and the alphabet. And read to the end of this post to see what other great minds are taking part in this first-ever event.

Alabama Takedown
(Titan Media) Director Joe Gage works a wrestling theme with Spencer Quest, Cliff Rhodes and Blu Kennedy going to the mat.

BuckleRoos (COLT Studio Group) Jerry Douglas and John Rutherford collaborated for this tale of a magical belt buckle. Throw in Dean Phoenix and Marcus Iron for an award-winning classic.

Greek Holiday (Bel Ami) George Duroy directed this two-parter with stunning twinks having fun in the sun.

Ram Tough (Hot House Video) Director Steven Scarborough celebrates the working stiff in five excellent scenes. Our highest compliment: We wore out our DVD of the first scene between Alex Collack and Shane Rollins. Read our review here.

SpyBoy (EuroCreme) A witty and stylish homage to a gay James Bond–esque character from British director Max Lincoln. Read our review here.

Dangerous Liaisons (Lucas Entertainment) Michael Lucas goes big budget for this lavish remake that marries high fashion and gay porn.

Fratboy Sam (Pavlov’s Dog) A solo masterpiece. Read our review here.

Lukas in Love
(Bel Ami) Lukas Ridgeston looks for love, and is as gorgeous as ever through director George Duroy’s lens.

Wrong Side of the Tracks (Rascal Video/Channel 1 Releasing) A stunning Johnny Hazzard leads Chi Chi LaRue’s two-parter about a bad boy gone hot.

Going Under (Jet Set Men) Editor Andrew Rosen makes an impressive directing debut with this tale of a sexy hypnotist (Kent Larson).

Grunts (Raging Stallion Studios) Military epic from director Chris Ward. Epic!

In His Dreams (Channel 1 Releasing/Rascal Video) Johnny Hazzard and Chi Chi LaRue follow Wrong Side of the Tracks with this dreamy effort. Read our review here.

La Dolce Vita (Lucas Entertainment) Michael Lucas gets remake fever again to great effect.

The Drifter (Raging Stallion Studios) Tony Dimarco brings a tender tale of lovers Logan McCree and Vinnie D’Angelo to life. The shades of Brokeback Mountain won us over.

Hawaii (COLT Studio Group) John Rutherford creates high art with Mitch Branson, Gage Weston and an exotic island location. Read our review here.

The Intern (Lucas Entertainment) Director Tony Dimarco shows how to do sex comedy right.

Oliver Twink (PZP Productions) A genuinely funny reworking of the Charles Dickens classic. Read our review here.

On Fire! (Jet Set Men) Dean Phoenix in a firehouse scorcher with Jesse Santana. Need we say more?

To the Last Man (Raging Stallion Studios) One year later, Chris Ward and co-directors Tony Dimarco and Ben Leon give the epic treatment to the Western. Violent, provocative, arty, ambitious and pushing gay porn into new territory, it deserves every accolade it received.

Unknown (Channel 1 Releasing/Rascal Video) Blake Riley kills it in this touching tale of love lost and found. Read our review here.

I sure wish some of these porn stars who have created their own websites would update their blogs! Just a pet peeve of mine.
