News: Deep Throat Play Set for NYC Stage

A porn classic is set to hit the boards, and veteran gay porn director Jerry Douglas is at the helm. The Deep Throat Sex Scandal is a new play by David Bertolino, and it will have its off-Broadway debut this fall. The show tells the story of the (straight) porn epic that was made in 1972 and grossed more than $600 million (!) at the box office. It promises to take viewers behind the scenes and into the “secret world of adult filmmaking.” Sounds racy! And GAYVN Hall-of-Famer Douglas, who brought us mayjah films such as The Back Row, More of a Man, Flesh & Blood, Dream Team, BuckleRoos and Brotherhood, is just the man to do it justice. Deep Throat is also the movie that made superstars out of the legendary Linda Lovelace and the hot, hairy Harry Reems. (The late actress was also the subject of a rock opera in Los Angeles in 2008.) Actors Lori Gardner and Malcolm Madera, who play Lovelace and Reems, are pictured below. The Deep Throat Sex Scandal is set to premiere Sunday, October 10, at 45 Bleecker Street Theatre in New York City. For more information, visit deepthroattheplay.com.
