Zeb Atlas blew through NYC recently for this event, and VincentLambert.com was able to catch a few moments with the porn superstar as he made his way to the gym. Although he lives in Las Vegas full-time these days, the beefy bodybuilder has been out on the road promoting his new movie, Zeb Atlas Is The Boyfriend, which he wrote, produced and directed. Interview Exclusive: Jason Adonis

Look who’s back! Though if you ask Jason Adonis, he’s never really been gone. “I’ve been here all along,” the 30-year-old porn superstar told VincentLambert.com in an exclusive interview this week. Hot on the heels of signing his exclusive contract with Raging Stallion last fall, Adonis appeared in the award-winning film Brutal for director Tony Dimarco. Now, he’s returned for two new movies for the studio: Dominus, which features him topping Race Cooper, and its sequel, Animus.

“I always wanted to do a leather/bondage-type scene,” Adonis says. “And I have also never done an interracial scene, so as part of my new deal with Raging Stallion, I figured I would try and do some things I haven’t done before.”

Although Adonis, who is married and has a 12-year-old daughter, has been plagued by gay-for-pay put-downs throughout his 10 years in the industry, he says that he has never understood the labels. “I have always found those names weird and kind of tacky,” he says. “I’m sexual. That’s all. I like getting attention from guys and girls.”

So when the scene with Cooper came up, Adonis saw it as a chance to prove he was no “gay-for-pay diva.” RSS president Chris Ward offered him the chance to ram muscle hunk Cooper and Adonis saw it as “the perfect opportunity to show what I can do. Plus, Race was easy to work with and has a huge dick.”

Besides broadening his range, Adonis seems to be happy with his new rough-and-tumble image. “Now I look more like a young man than an old boy,” he laughs. In addition to his latest film work, Adonis is also slated to co-host (with Scotty B) Cocktails With the Stars at Micky’s in West Hollywood on July 20. “I’m looking forward to that,” Adonis says. “I have never hosted before, and I am fairly quick-witted and like having fun with that. So it should be good.” He also doesn’t rule out other future live appearances. “I will take the right offers if they come along,” he adds.

But for now Adonis is content to ride out his contract with RSS. “It’s so much easier being an exclusive,” he says. “You don’t make as much money as when you’re a free agent, but the studio deals with all the politics and bullshit, so it’s worth it.” While he looks back fondly at some of the past 10 years of making porn (Falcon Studios’ Taking Flight was one of his favorite experiences because “I got to go to London and hang out and work with my friend Josh Weston”), Adonis isn’t sure exactly what his future holds. He owns a small business in the Midwest and prides himself on keeping his family together. “Balancing porn and a family is not easy to do,” he says. “But my family always comes first. People can call me flaky and unreliable, but the only times I have acted that way were when I had to make my family a priority.”

As he preps for his upcoming scenes with daily workouts and a strict diet regimen, Adonis seems resigned to the facts of his life. “I’m done trying to figure out why so much BS goes on in this industry,” he says with a sigh. “It’s just too stressful. From now on, I’m just going with the flow.”

Who knew Aspen had that many sides!? My, how time flies when you’re blogging! It’s been four years since the launch of VincentLambert.com. In that time, we survived year one (and the controversy surrounding our interview with Johnny Hanson about his decision to bareback), year two (this interview with Jordan Young from 1999 got picked up by The Insider and others) and year three (when we got to hang out with Simon Dexter and Jeremy Feist). What do we need to brighten up a dreary February? More porn awards! Although we were less than high on some recent presentations, this week’s 17th-annual Hard Choice Awards actually have some street cred. Mostly because they are chosen by longtime porn columnist and expert Onan the Vulgarian, who always tells it like it is. And why shouldn’t he? He doesn’t secretly work for a studio! He and associate Harley Shadow, who is also our Twitter buddy (follow us @VinceLambertNYC), picked their personal faves with “no party, no fanfare, no shindig, no porn stars, no statuettes. Just the year’s best in all-male porn.” Sounds like a dream come true! Anyway, even though Onan writes that much of the past year’s porn work left him feeling “uninspired,” he and the Shadow managed to find numerous films and models to honor. First, Mavety Media Group has announced the comeback of some of its formerly defunct gay porn magazines. Mandate is set to return this month, along with Playguy and one other. Popular classic titles, including Honcho, Inches, Black Inches and Latin Inches, were folded by Mavety almost two years ago. Time will tell whether anyone still wants gay porn in a nonelectronic format. In books, German publisher Taschen has decided to join the 3-D craze and rerelease its Big Penis Book from a couple of years back. The oversize volume includes the work of Bob Mizer, David Hurles and our old buddy Chuck. It also features porn superstar Chad Hunt on the cover—well, his basket anyway—now in 3-D! Finally, publisher Bruno Gmünder is readying a pretty picture book about the history of all-male adult entertainment. Titled Porn: From Andy Warhol to X-Tube (below), the book explores how porn has influenced both art and pop culture through the decades. It’s edited by Kevin Clarke and will be available next month. News: Director Gino Colbert Pervs Out

One of gay porn’s premier auteurs is back! Not that he’s really been gone. It was announced last week that award-winning director Gino Colbert is helming the first release for straight production house Devil’s Film new gay imprint, Devil’s Male. The film is titled Perverts, and it consists of four short vignettes that were written and directed by Colbert. “I have been sort of semiretired,” Colbert exclusively tells VincentLambert.com, “but I agreed to get the ball rolling for Devil’s Film because its general manager, Eric Mann, and I are old buddies. We worked together at Leisure Time, a straight company where I produced John Wayne Bobbitt: Uncut. That movie went on to become one of the highest-grossing in straight porn history.”

That’s an impressive track record, and it sounds like Devil’s Film is happy with the results of the reunion. “It was only fitting that we create a quality gay line shot here by a great director like Gino,” Devil’s Film national sales manager Steve Volponi told AVN. (Devil’s Male plans to release at least six titles per year.)

Perverts stars another industry fave who has been MIA for a bit: Robert Van Damme! It also features Adam Russo, Gianni Luca, Troy Michaels, Tristan Matthews, Jared Michaels, Emilio Sands, John Marcus and Lex Sabre. “I think there’s opportunity in the gay market for us if it’s quality enough,” Volponi added. “Gino turns in a great product. He did a really good job. If you’re gonna do it, you might as well come out swinging.”

Short Takes: Vintage Poole on DVD…and More

One of gay porn’s renowned directors is getting the star treatment. Gorilla Factory Productions is releasing two movies from Boys in the Sand creator Wakefield Poole. The first, Moving!, is the director’s fourth film and is presented uncut for the first time on DVD (it was one of the first gay films to feature fisting). It stars classic screen studs Casey Donovan (above), Val Martin and Peter Fisk. The second, One, Two, Three…, is Poole’s final movie and features JD Slater, Steve Kaye and Dave Connors (whose untimely suicide caused the film to be pulled from theaters). The DVD includes outtakes from the movies and excerpts from the upcoming feature-length documentary Dirty Poole, also being produced by Gorilla Factory.
