News: Maverick Men Release New Book

These guys are hot! Maybe you’ve seen them in one of their infamous XTube videos (they have 80 million hits). Or visited their popular MaverickMen.com Web site (which has experienced a 500 percent increase in traffic since its launch last July). Now Cole and Hunter are getting literate with a new book, Maverick Men: The True Story Behind the Videos (inGroup Press). The true story behind this sexy couple is that they have been together for more than 10 years and play (well) with others only on camera. Lucky for their fans! Together, the self-described “alpha-male tops” do all their own filming and editing. And the bottoms guys they hook up with are followers of their work whom they meet in their many travels (we almost got to interview the pair last summer in Provincetown but sadly missed them). Which is exactly what their book—available now via Amazon, e-book and in stores nationwide—is about. So now Web series are all the rage. Go figure! Last week it was Naked Sword weighing in with Golden Gate and Dominic Ford beating the drums for his new Coconut Cove. This week, Channel 1 Releasing is jumping in with Raising the Bar. This “provocative and original” online series (or so says the press release from publicist and Bar screenwriter Jason Sechrest) stars Adam Killian, Mitchell Rock, C1R exclusive Jimmy Durano, Steven Daigle (who, according to The Sword, has a Valentine’s Day date with a judge regarding his altercation with ex Trent Locke) and Conner Habib (above). Together they play five oversexed friends who attempt to outdo one another by capturing their sexual antics on amateur cams. Each episode features footage that the models shot themselves using their own cameras, phones and Web cams. This will be interspersed with professional glamour sequences shot by director Chi Chi LaRue (the company used a similar technique in Daigle’s first movie, XXXPosed). “We’re always looking for ways to combine what’s hot at the moment with what we’re really good at doing,” LaRue says. Also scheduled to appear in the first season of Bar are C1R exclusive Brent Everett, Landon Mycles, Jock Hudson, Jason Longh and newcomer Billy Byron. Event: LI Film Festival to Honor Joe Gage

One of gay porn’s legendary auteurs is being honored this weekend in New York. Director Joe Gage will be feted at the Long Island Film Festival this Sunday, November 14, for An Evening With Joe Gage, Revolutionary Filmmaker. He, along with special guest porn star Bryan Slater (pictured above in his new Titan Media release, Swelter), will take part in a screening of Gage’s 1979 film classic L.A. Tool & Die (which was also given the theatrical treatment last summer in Los Angeles), plus an interview, Q&A session and reception. The movie was the concluding chapter of Gage’s groundbreaking “Working Man” trilogy, which also included Kansas City Trucking Co. and El Paso Wrecking Corp. The film fest program notes: “Sometimes disturbing, often exuberant, [Gage’s films] are ultimately liberating works that proclaim the humanity of men determined to live their lives despite the hostility of a society that will not even let them breathe.” Funny how some things stay the same—plus, what’s more timeless than the sight of the gloriously bearded man stud Richard Locke doing what he did best?
