News: Drew Cutler Signs With Suite 703

Recently relaunched Suite 703 has signed porn star Drew Cutler to a one-year exclusive contract. Cutler, who has appeared in films such as All Worlds/Channel 1 Releasing’s Playing With Fire: 4 Alarm (for which he is nominated for a Grabby Award) and Hot House’s Loading Zone, will work for Suite 703’s numerous niche sites, including My Brother’s Hot Friend, I’m a Married Man!, Men Hard at Work and Hot Jocks Nice Cocks. The contract includes Web work and live appearances only and won’t prohibit him from making movies for other major studios.

“It was one of my biggest goals to become a studio exclusive,” says Cutler, who is repped by Jason Sechrest’s DV8 Casting. “I’m excited about all the work coming up, getting to work with so many hot guys every month and a lot of traveling too, so I get to meet all of the people who I hope are enjoying my scenes.”

“Drew is like a dream to work with,” Suite 703’s head of production and development Tommy Stone says. “He does anything a director asks of him. He’s incredibly professional. And he’s all man! He’s so versatile though, he can fit the mold of any of our sites. We consider ourselves very lucky to have him so early on in his career. New Release: Gridiron Gang Bang

Channel 1 Releasing takes on a classic gay porn scenario, and C1R exclusive Vance Winter takes on the entire football team (and a janitor!) in the just released Gridiron Gang Bang. Following his bottoming debut in Vance Winter’s Taking It In, Winter is hitting the locker room for directrix Chi Chi LaRue and her All Worlds brand. New Release: Double Czech 2009

More news on the brothers-doing-it front, but this time with a twist. Channel 1 Releasing has picked up veteran director William Higgins’ Double Czech 2009, which is a sequel to a film that starred twins Jirka and Karel Bartok and came out almost a decade ago from All Worlds Video. And in this movie, real-life identical twins Adam and Konrad Richter go all the way in the final scene. The new version was filmed on location in the Czech Republic and co-stars Bjorn Gedda, Viktor Kana, Matthus Reinhardt and Nikolas Rezac.

“I am beyond thrilled to be releasing a sequel to Double Czech,” Higgins says. “The first installment went so well, and was such a good collaboration [among] Rick Ford, All Worlds Video and myself, that I thought it was very important to keep the franchise under the same roof. After all, brothers shouldn’t be separated.”

The Richter twins are seen in several scenes, including ones in which they trade massages, wrestle, shave each other and engage in group fun. But it’s the sibling-sex finale that will set tongues wagging. “I thought about making a censored version that didn’t include the twins engaging in any action,” Higgins adds, “but I could see it in their eyes. It would have been impossible to cut a censored version as [they] were so hot for each other. You know, years of pent-up desires. I can only imagine.”

News: GAYVN Awards Announce Hall of Famers

GAYVN has announced its inductees into the 2009 GAYVN Hall of Fame. Veteran director and Hall of Fame member Gino Colbert will once again present the honorees with their awards during the GAYVN Awards on Saturday, March 28, at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco. This year’s inductees are:

Dean Phoenix (above) made his debut in 1998 and went on to become a GAYVN Award winner and an icon in the industry. Despite retiring in 2000, he made a triumphant return in the 2004 Buckshot classic BuckleRoos and has continued his hot streak with films such as Brotherhood, Forever Young and On Fire!

Michael Lucas (below) has won numerous GAYVN Awards for his many films, including Dangerous Liaisons, La Dolce Vita, The Intern and Gigolo, and has cemented his stature as an A-list director and performer with both his own studio, New York–based Lucas Entertainment, and his own distribution company, Lucas Distribution.

Chris Steele started his career as a performer for many studios before turning to writing, producing and directing (Big Dick Society). He’s a GAYVN and Grabby Award winner and is currently head honcho at Jet Set Men.

Dink Flamingo is a pioneer in amateur Web site content, filming men from nearby military bases for ActiveDuty.com. In 2007, he branched out with a new video line, Dirty Bird Pictures (The Porn Ultimatum), and recently helped Brent Corrigan launch his own studio, Prodigy Pictures (Summit).

Jack Simmons was the first African-American model to work for major studios, including Falcon (The Freshmen), Titan Media (Naked Escape) and All Worlds (Animus).

Phil St. John was the first to shoot a double-penetration scene in gay porn, the first to shoot gay porn focused on skate culture and the first to include a behind-the-scenes extra for a DVD. He is best-known for Skateboard Sliders, Getting It at the Rave, Taggers and Double Delights.

TJ Paris is a San Francisco native who got started in the biz in 1985 and discovered stars such as Paul Morgan and Rob Steele.

Colbert will also present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Roger Earl, who co-founded (with Terry LeGrand) Marathon Films and edited, wrote and directed 16 mm films before forming the Gay Producers Association of America (also with LeGrand), which presented the first gay porn awards. He worked at the Tom of Finland Foundation until he retired in 2007.

Movie Review: Chosen

Cast: Tommy Blade, Blake Riley, Eddie Diaz, Jude Collin, David Daniels, Guy Parker, TJ Young, Kayden Pierce, Enrique Currero, Jason Michaels.

All Worlds exclusives Tommy Blade, Blake Riley and Eddie Diaz are invited to join a members-only sex club. In four scenes in Chosen, they and others check in and act out their wildest sexual desires. First, Jude Collin does a bit of self-sucking before Tommy Blade saves him from having to finish the job. But when Blade spins around and plants his butt in Collin’s face, the handsome model looks like he doesn’t know what to do. Sure, Collin kisses, licks and smacks it, but that’s as far as it goes. (He does no sucking either.) Oh well, he makes up for it by pounding Blade hard. This no-mercy ramming is a highlight of the movie. Next, unlikely top TJ Young takes on newcomer Jason Michaels, an 18-year-old from Ohio making his debut. Young and Michaels make out and TJ rips off the newbie’s tank top, but that’s all Michaels exposes until the very end of the scene. He blows Young and eats his ass while wearing his jockstrap and even keeps it on as Young throws him a listless fuck. Eventually, he gets hard and jacks. Still, the kid shows promise—he just needs to stop shaving his chest. All that stubble is gross!

Eddie Diaz starts his scene tied up while Enrique Currero and David Daniels perform oral. This doesn’t last though, and Diaz ends up bottoming for Currero in a sling while Daniels watches and jerks. His blank expression doesn’t give away much, but Daniels winds up in the sling next, taking Currero’s meat as well. The final scene starts with boys dancing in cages (Guy Parker and Kayden Pierce) until Blake Riley enters and sets them free. Soon, he and Parker are sharing Pierce’s cock. Pierce tops Parker and bottoms for Riley. They all jack in the end, with Riley winning the long-shot contest (and despite his bland porn name, Riley brings lots of ethnic hotness to this trio. We’d swear he’s Italian!).

Overall, Chosen is tightly edited and has great picture quality. The winning cast is shot with swirling smoke and moody (flattering) lighting. Fans will also enjoy the long behind-the-scenes extra, but they might want to watch it after viewing the movie because seeing the models get their eyebrows tweezed and Blade prance around in a red bra might be a hard-on killer. News: Zeb Atlas Goes All the Way for Falcon

Now that porn superstar Zeb Atlas has been blown on the Internet by a silver fox, he’s ready to tackle his first full-fledged sex scene in a movie with an actual hot guy! As reported by The Sword Web site, Atlas is set to begin production this week on a two-part film for Falcon Studios. And the muscle hunk’s partner in two scenes will be none other than Falcon Lifetime Exclusive Matthew Rush. Tony Capucci will also appear in the film, his first as a Falcon exclusive (following a scene in the studio’s Afterparty, out this month).

“This deal puts the spotlight back on the talent, where it should be,” says Atlas’s talent manager David Forest. “Not since the Billy Herrington deal with All Worlds Video for Conquered in 2001 has a studio gone to the extremes that Falcon has to get Zeb Atlas. The only other big-ticket superstar deals have been for Ryan Idol [Idol Country and Idol in the Sky], Ken Ryker [Ryker’s Revenge and Mass Appeal] and Jeff Stryker [Stryker’s Underground].”

ST John entered the gay porn industry in 1985 and has produced films for numerous studios, including Titan Media, All Worlds, Tribal Pulse, Pacific Sun and Falcon Studios. Event: 10th-Annual GAYVN Awards 2008

The 10th-Annual GAYVN Awards took place last Saturday at the Giftcenter in San Francisco, and although much controversy surrounded the choice of hosts (no Kathy Griffin), the nomination process (no judges allowed) and the color scheme of the set (kidding), the show was pretty much business as usual. There were technical difficulties, poor sound and a surprising lack of skin, although by the second half, the trophy boys had stripped to their undies. The night’s big winner was Raging Stallion’s Grunts (as we predicted it would be months ago) with nine awards. The military epic won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Editing (Chris Ward and Ben Leon) and Best DVD Extras. Leading stud Jake Deckard took home Best Actor for the film, in addition to Performer of the Year. Co-star Ricky Sinz walked away with three awards for Best Supporting Actor, Best Solo Performance and Best Sex Scene (with Roman Ragazzi, who was sorely missed from the event. Well, at least by us!). All World’s Link: The Evolution followed with six awards (including Best All-Sex Video, Best Group Scene and Best Music, which went to director Chi Chi LaRue’s young nephew Red Shag, a composer and DJ from Minnesota. Hmmm, wonder whether the kid was even allowed to watch the movie!). Lucas Entertainment got four awards for The Intern, including Best Sex Comedy and Best Supporting Actor for Christian Cruz (a tie with Sinz). Titan Media received three awards for Best Leather Video (Folsom Leather), Best Extreme Specialty Release (Fear) and Best Videography for H2O (Brian Mills and Paul Wilde).

Other highlights: Blake Riley for Best Newcomer; Jerry Douglas got Best Screenplay for Brotherhood; Jesse Santana, Nickolay Petrov and Jason White took Best Threesome for Jet Set’s Just Add Water (although we doubt Petrov will be picking up his trophy anytime soon); and Collin O’Neal’s World of Men release Edinburgh for Best Pro/Am. Director Gino Colbert inducted this year’s Hall of Fame honorees: veteran porn stars Rod Barry and Tiger Tyson; directors Paul Barresi, Terry LeGrand, Lucas Kazan and David McCabe; and photographer Greg Lenzman (aka Mocha).

News: Channel 1 Acquires Catalina Video

Channel 1 Releasing has announced its purchase of Catalina Video and a vast catalog of more than 600 titles from the past 30 years.

“Catalina Video is where I learned from great directors like William Higgins and John Travis,” said Channel 1 partner Chi Chi LaRue (pictured). “They gave me my first opportunity to direct. When I think about all of the classic titles they created, it brings back so many great memories for me. I am excited and honored to bring these truly amazing movies to fans, both old and new.”

Founded in 1978 by legendary director/producer William Higgins, Catalina Video was a leader in the gay adult entertainment industry throughout the 1980s and ’90s. Its landmark films included Big Guns, Hot Rods: Young and Hung II, Sailor in the Wild, Undercover and GAYVN’s Best Gay Adult Movie of all time Powertool.

“We are overjoyed about Catalina joining Channel 1 Releasing,” said Channel 1 partner Rob Novinger. “The studio’s library, which includes some of the most historical gay titles ever made, remains virtually untouched. It makes the prospect of bringing them to consumers in new formats really exciting.”

With its acquisition of Catalina Video, Channel 1 Releasing—which bought All Worlds Video last year, and is also home to LaRue’s Rascal Video and director-model Doug Jeffries’ Electro Video—will gain access to the expansive library of titles that the studio has produced over the past three decades and will repackage and rerelease many of them on DVD. Porn fans can also expect to see new big-budget productions under the Catalina name in the near future.

Porn Star Interview: Doug Jeffries

Doug Jeffries is making his mark on the porn industry—both in front of and behind the camera. Since his debut in 1996 in All Worlds Videos’ Why Marines Don’t Kiss, the 37-year-old screen stud has appeared in more than 350 films. In 2000, All Worlds gave Jeffries the opportunity to direct his own script, Untamed. Then last year, Studio 2000 signed Jeffries to direct movies for them. Now prepping Working Stiff 2 as a director and appearing in John Travis’ Stiff as a Board as a model, Jeffries recently took some time out to speak with us from the Studio 2000 offices in Los Angeles.

How did you make the transition from model to director?
[All Worlds Video owner] Rick Ford and I go way back. He even named me! Rick asked me to direct. I had been writing scripts for some of Chi Chi LaRue’s movies for Vivid. I wrote a gay script called Untamed. Rick really liked the script, and he said, “Direct it.” I said, “Let me think about it.” He said, “No, direct it!”
What made you hesitate?
I didn’t think I had the skill to direct. I had assisted Chi Chi on set, and being in so many movies, I learned a lot from seeing others direct. But it wasn’t until I worked with Scott Masters and John Travis at Studio 2000 that I felt I really started learning the technical side. I knew I could do the personality part, dealing with the boys, but the other part made me hesitate.
How did you get into the business originally?
I had been working as a teacher in Boston. Then I moved to Las Vegas. I came to L.A. and [porn star] Logan Reed saw me. He introduced me to an agent.
Had you considered porn before?
I was toying with the idea of doing porn. Then this opportunity came up. It was thrown in my face, so I sent pictures to the agent.
And the rest is history!
It was sort of a roller-coaster ride. I almost didn’t do it. I was sitting in the airport, waiting to go do my first movie, and I thought, “I’m not gonna get on that plane.” I never thought it would blossom into what it did and extend even further.
How did the Studio 2000 deal come about?
Scott Masters saw Untamed and called me at the All Worlds Resort in Palm Springs, where I was working, and offered me a job. I said that I was loyal to All Worlds, and he understood. Then I left there and moved back to L.A. and was free to accept his offer. I have directed four movies for Studio 2000. I just did one in Spain called Deep Plunge for our international line. And now I am also publicity/promotions manager.
Was that a tough job to tackle?
Not really. I already knew everyone I needed to from when I was roommates with Chi Chi.
Tell us about your relationship with Miss LaRue.
I met Chi Chi through working with All Worlds. She cast me in a movie for Mustang. I stayed at her house. It was a crazy time. Sometimes I was doing two movies a day! I was in all her movies, then she asked me to be her assistant. I made all those connections through her.
Were you influenced by her directing style?
Totally. A lot of my style is similar to Chi Chi’s.
What do you like about being a director?
As a model, I loved seeing my image on the screen. Now, as a director, I love seeing my vision transformed from the page. I also appreciate the entirety of the project—the editing, the music. Seeing the finished product is such a thrill! I get an inner excitement and energy when I am directing. I can’t contain myself.
Do you still want to keep performing as well?
There are projects I still want to do. I mean if a fisting movie comes up for Hot House, then I am there. I still like the hard-edge stuff. And I love doing personal appearances. I was an actor/singer/dancer before porn, so I love stripping, signing autographs, meeting the fans.
After 350 movies, how do you keep it fresh?
I just did a 3-D specialty video with Michael Zen, and I’ve done fisting movies with Steven Scarborough. Those are experiences that are exciting to me and where I can learn a lot from other directors, and I am so thankful to Studio 2000 for this chance. Learning still turns me on. That is how I keep it fresh!

Destination: All Worlds Resort in Palm Springs

The desert resort town of Palm Springs is renowned as an oasis for gay men. Whether they are escaping from nearby cities like Los Angeles and San Diego (both about a two-hour drive away) or more far-flung destinations, the spectacular weather, mountain vistas and hunky men are all big draws. And while guests have any number of accommodations from which to choose, only one four-star resort offers naked porn stars along with its sun and views. The All Worlds Resort, a subsidiary of the San Diego–based porn studio, has all this, plus an assortment of amenities that will excite any visitor.

The clothing-optional resort boasts three sparkling pools and Jacuzzis, the largest steam room in Palm Springs, a dry sauna and a newly expanded “nature walk”—featuring a sling, saddle and gloryholes for the adventurous—where All Worlds videos play around the clock. Each room has a refrigerator, microwave, in-room coffee maker and remote-controlled color TV with VCR. Guests can enjoy a continental breakfast buffet (fruit, muffins, bagels, juice) in the lounge where a library of All Worlds Videos’ hundreds of films are available for viewing. There are also porn channels on the TVs and even a closed-circuit system that keeps track of the activities in the pool areas. So, if you’re up late watching The Golden Girls and channel-surf to some outdoor action, you can just mosey over and join right in.

But twice a month, professionals show how it’s really done. That’s when the cameras roll for live XXX shoots featuring some of porn’s brightest stars. And guests are welcome to watch and take notes. “I had an idea when I bought the resort to offer men a different venue than the others,” says All Worlds owner Rick Ford. “Being in the adult-video business, I felt, what could be better than to bring porn stars to the resort for guests to see up-close. What better way to make the fantasy real than to create a whole movie-set idea with living stars that you can meet and talk to.”

And Ford’s concept is clearly working. Top directors such as Chi Chi LaRue, Chad Donovan, Thor Stephans, Dirk Yates and Mike Donner have all worked on the popular Pornstruck video series that is filmed poolside and in the courtyard gardens. And that’s not all the bang you’ll get for your buck. Every Saturday a Porn Star Barbecue is hosted by a different big-name model, and sometimes he brings along a few of his closest screen buddies. Past hosts and guests have included Tom Southern (our gracious tour guide with lover Marc St. Jacques, both seen above), Michael Brandon, Max Grand, Anthony Holloway, Bret Wolfe and Andy Hunter.

There are also special pornformances, parties and contests galore. Recent events have included the Mr. All Worlds and Mr. Nude Palm Springs competitions, whipped-cream bikini contests and others, which have been known to draw as many as 700 guests from the area and all over the United States. “I’ve had guys who drive for four days to get here from Ohio,” says executive manager Fernando Lara. “They want to be a part of the All Worlds experience.”

And that experience is about to get even better. Ford is a man with a plan. He has just purchased a neighboring property and hopes to renovate and include it in the All Worlds compound by the end of the year. Following some major construction work, the grounds will merge three separate resorts into one with a total of 46 rooms. The new section will feature six high-end “celebrity” rooms (including Cher, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis and Marilyn Monroe rooms), which will pay homage to a particular diva and feature memorabilia about her from Ford’s personal collection. These rooms sound like they will be fit for a queen.

And if all that’s not enough, when you leave, you even get to take a bit of the All Worlds Resort home with you, because each room comes with a complimentary video of highlights from some of the studio’s best films. Just in case you didn’t get enough of the real thing!

Porn Star Interview: Rod Barry

Supercute Rod Barry is newly blond. “I was down in Florida,” he says, “drank a six-pack and decided to get my hair bleached.” That isn’t the only change this 28-year-old porn veteran has made in his life recently. After starting a wildly successful porn career in 1996—appearing in more than 30 films and being nominated for numerous awards—Barry has rejoined the industry with a vengeance. Besides his latest videos, including Falcon’s Deception, All Worlds’ Bringing Out Brother and MSR’s White Trash, Barry is touring once again. He hits Cherry’s on Fire Island soon, as part of agent David Forest’s porn-star series. Barry also stars in Forest Film’s first production, Brad’s Buddies, due this fall. HX recently caught up with the blue-eyed hottie from his day job in Indiana (another major change!) to find out why he left and why he’s back.

Rod, where have you been?
Well, I needed to take a break. After doing porn for a few years, I had fucked my ass off, made a lot of money and partied a lot, then it was time to stop. So I moved away to save my life.
How would you describe that first phase of your career?
It was fun. I have great memories that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
How did you get started originally?
I had been in the Marine Corps. I was stripping in San Diego and met [director] Dirk Yates of All Worlds Video. I did a solo scene in one of his Private Collection movies. Then it was a natural progression from there.
Were you nervous?
Nah, it came natural.
So you’ve always been an exhibitionist?
Yeah, I have always been pretty open. If I could run around naked all day, I would.
Had you been a porn fan?
Well, I used to sneak in and watch my dad’s porn tapes. Actually, it was funny to meet Sharon Kane and Nina Hartley and some of these other porn girls after whacking off to them as a 10-year-old.
Do you identify as gay, straight or bi these days?
I don’t. I’m just me. I’m just sexual.
Do you have a favorite movie that you’ve done?
Probably Link. I got to be real piggy in that one. Or High Tide, because I had such a great week in Hawaii and I only had to work for two days.
Favorite co-star?
Logan Reed. We are buddies and have danced all over the country together. He is actually the first guy I bottomed for on-screen. I picked him. We just connect.
Did you guys ever date?
No, I would never date someone in the industry. I would never date myself.
Are you single?
Yeah.
So, what made you decide to return to the business?
It was for the fun of it—and the money. My agent, David Forest, got me to go to the GayVN Awards last year. After that, I decided, okay, let’s do it again.
Is it strange to be back after all this time?
Well, on the last shoot I did, I kinda felt like I was the elder statesman. I was the oldest person there! I was surrounded by all these new exclusives. I mean, they could cum, like, six times, and I am just not at that point anymore. (laughs)
You have also toured and performed live a lot.
Yeah, I like to get up and get naked. It’s a compliment that someone would want to come and see me and get a signed picture. It amazes me. I don’t think of myself as that kind of person. I’m not some big musclebound guy. I have a swimmer’s build, but I get up and entertain, and I smile and dance. I love it.
And what can our readers expect from your show on Fire Island?
If they have seen my movies, they know what to expect: I am a sex pig. I like to give spankings, have fun, bring people onstage with me, party and just have a great time. I hope they enjoy the show. I can’t wait to talk to the people of New York City. It’s one of my favorite places.
How long will you stay in the porn industry this time?
As long as someone keeps thinking I am attractive, even if I am 40. You can be an older man and still look great. Plus, some people want to watch a man and not a boy. I can see myself making that transition on-screen.
Is there anything left that you haven’t done?
I think I’ve done everything. I have done pissing scenes and seen a guy shooting beer 15 feet out of his ass, thinking “If my mother could see me now.” So it’s kinda hard to top crazy shit like that! (laughs)
