Press: Vince on The Barry Kirkey Radio Show

Vince is taking to the airwaves to play gay porn expert once again, and Canada’s The Barry Kirkey Radio Show is the place to hear him. Kirkey (left) is a Toronto-based comedian who is also known as Extramask and 26 from his appearance in Neil Strauss’s book The Game. Some think of him as a “dating/seduction expert,” but he also hosts an irreverent Howard Stern–esque podcast for young straight dudes. So needless to say, when he wanted to book Vince as a guest on his show, we said, “You sure?!” But it turns out that Barry and his listeners wanted to know all about what makes the gay porn industry tick and how our little blog has been covering it for the past four years. Short Takes: Reichen Onstage…and More

Okay, so he’s not a porn star, but he sure looks like one! Reality star and author Reichen Lehmkuhl (above), who won The Amazing Race and then continued to fail upward by dating boybander Lance Bass, will be starring in an off-Broadway comedy this spring. The show, My Big Gay Italian Wedding, comes from playwright Anthony Wilkinson and tells the story of two handsome grooms (Reichen is one, we’re guessing), an overbearing Italian mother, a jealous ex-boyfriend, a wedding planner from hell and—you get the idea. Sounds like My Big Fat Greek Wedding gone way gay—and Italian, too! Look for a May 22 opening at St. Luke’s Theatre in Midtown. Who knows? Maybe the stud can act, too. Its excellent site went dark for a couple of days, but thankfully posting have resumed and all seems well on that front. The death of Unzipped is just another in the long line of gay porn mags to cease publication, and in the past couple of years we have seen the demise of Mandate, Playguy, Honcho, Inches, Black and Latin Inches and Torso (all from Mavety Media Group). XXX Showcase, the Adam Gay Video Directory and [2] have also gone the way of the wildebeest. Let’s have a moment of silence for the printed word, y’all. [Hangs head here]

Beefy newcomer Heath Jordan has landed on the cover of the current Bear Magazine #70. Press: Zeb Atlas Gets Hairy for Bear Magazine

Bear magazine has landed one of porn’s biggest names and gotten him to go natural for its latest issue. Yes, that’s superstar Zeb Atlas in all his manly glory on the cover of the recently revived hair lover’s publication. And to celebrate, Bear Omnimedia has announced that the quarterly magazine will now be available at Borders and Bookworld national chain stores. “Beginning with issue 69, Bear will join the two large chains for increased exposure and to further meet the needs of our bear customers,” a company rep says. Adds editor-in-chief Steven Wolfe, “Despite the economy and various naysayers, Bear’s growth has been unstoppable in an evolving industry. I’m also rather pleased that they’ve put us in the ‘men’s sophisticate’ category, alongside Playboy. It’s a great acknowledgment and entrance into the mainstream.” Bear magazine, which focuses on “the unapologetically hypermasculine gay male,” has been around for 22 years (including a six-year layoff) and was taken over by Bear Omnimedia a year ago. The cover of the October issue of Britain’s Attitude magazine trumpets “Big Ben Cohen.” Do they know something we don’t? The October issue of Unzipped magazine has hit the streets and it’s a theme issue, kids! Loves it! The Recession Issue features sexy Men at Play model Miro (aka Patrik) on the cover and inside shares numerous money-saving tips (kink on a budget! homemade sex toys!). Award-winning director Tony Dimarco is also interviewed and talks about how making “cinematic” porn is one of his primary goals. Press: Details Profiles Gay Porn Bandit Twins

The April issue of Details (with Alex Rodriguez on the cover and that bizarre ode-to-narcissism photo shoot in which he is making out with himself on the inside) features a revealing piece about porn star brothers Keyon and Taleon Goffney. In a story titled “The Curious Case of the Gay-Porn-Star Identical Twins,” writer Richard Rys takes an in-depth look at the siblings who were arrested last year. “Gorgeous twins partnering up for Mission: Impossible–style heists may sound like the premise of a Hollywood action thriller,” Rys writes, “but the Goffney brothers’ tale is more the stuff of David Lynch.” He goes on to recount how Keyon was about to get his big break as a legit model when he was arrested, along with his brother Taleon, for an alleged rooftop burglary in Philadelphia.

Originally from the mean streets of Camden, New Jersey, the brothers had previously worked in the porn industry before the supposed string of break-ins in Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. Keyon got his start doing hard-core scenes for Flava Works in Chicago and eventually brought his brother (who identifies as straight) into the fold to work for a specialty Web site that caters to “Pure Black Male Beauty.” Together, they shot five scenes, including a threeway with Marc Williams in Las Vegas, which Rys reports was “just short of incest.” Keeping it all in the family, when Keyon was arrested for the Philly job, he also implicated the twins’ mother, Towana, saying she was in on the scheme (police reports indicate that she was seen leaving the crime scene).

The piece ends with Taleon (who declined to be interviewed by Details) in prison, having already been sentenced for up to eight years. Keyon is due to be tried this spring on burglary and other charges related to the break-in. Rys does a great job of weaving the brothers’ twisted tale, adding layers to a story that gets more and more complicated. He even envisions a future for Keyon, who admits to having cosmetic dental work and pec implants, in Los Angeles as a fluffy reality-TV star. But in the end, it is the brothers’ unique bond that makes this story so compelling: “The queer brother introduces the straight brother to gay pornography; the crooked twin shows his law-abiding brother a life of crime; yin follows yang.”

Press: Freshmen November Issue on Stands

It’s a twinkfest as usual in the November issue of Freshmen. Press: Bear Magazine Roars Back to Stands

The bears are back in print! Following a six-year layoff, Bear magazine will soon resume publication. New owner Bear Omnimedia LLC has announced it will produce 40,000 copies that will be circulated worldwide. The revived issue 65 is free and will be distributed at bear and gay events and in adult bookstores.

Launched in 1984, Bear represented a growing community of gay men who were beefy, übermasculine and unapologetically hairy. Now, the new version will reflect an emerging contemporary bear movement with erotic photography and provocative fiction blended with humor and information that is of interest to bears and the gay mainstream. The new magazine will be published quarterly starting in February 2009.

Who can believe that it’s been a year since the launch of VincentLambert.com? In that time, our original concept (which was to create a sort of online archive of more than a decade’s worth of interviews, reviews, on-the-set reports and photos) has grown by leaps and bounds—and so has our traffic (with more than a quarter million hits so far). And what a premier year it’s been: The site has been featured in Cybersocket Web Magazine and was a pick for HX Site of the Week; our original “Should Do Porn” column spotlighting Rusty Joiner (above) landed us our biggest traffic day to that point; then our exclusive interview with Johnny Hanson on his bareback debut got picked up by numerous outlets, leading to our biggest traffic day ever! New superstar Johnny Castle granted us his only sitdown after being named Man of the Year by Men magazine, but our classic interviews with Jeff Stryker, Ryan Idol, Billy Herrington and Tom Katt proved to be just as popular. Our most read review? Caesar’s Hardhat Gang Bang! Who knew? We visited the set of Lucas Entertainment’s award-winning sex comedy The Intern and traveled to San Francisco for the GAYVN Awards. We were even invited to join a Blog Circle Jerk! And, of course, one good thing leads to another.
