News: Five (and We’re) Alive!

What do you give for a fifth anniversary!? Is it wood!? VincentLambert.com is still here, kids. Yup, we’re still blogging away as the industry burns around us. We kid! But it’s true—we’ve been typing about gay porn for five years now (on this site, though 16 years total!). The big biz goes up and down, and this year was no different. But first, a brief history of our history: We started year one with a bang (and the controversy surrounding our interview with Johnny Hanson about his decision to bareback); survived year two (this interview with Jordan Young from 1999 got picked up by The Insider when Lara Spencer was the host!); and year three (when we dined with both Simon Dexter and Jeremy Feist); then there was year four (we had the inside scoop on the Robert Van Damme arrest, including his first post-prison photos and interview, and Vince did guest spots on the Cock2Go Show and LA Talk Radio’s The Alternative to plug the site).

Now, in the past 12 months, we were back on the radio for The Barry Kirkey Show (one of our most fun interviews ever!); hung with our favorite talk show host for Gay Pride (how you doin’, lady!?); got exclusives with superstars Zeb Atlas and Jason Adonis (thanks, superagent David Forest!); saw (Randy Blue) stars at Splash; missed the hookers at HustlaBall NYC, but caught them at the International Escort Awards; and sadly reported the loss of this beloved porn star. Vince also branched out, becoming a (paid!) blogger for the fab GayDemon.com. You can read his full-frontal posts here.

And so it goes. As usual, we want to thank the readers and porn fans for visiting, the supportive fellow bloggers (the ones we still like), and the studios and publicists who supply us with their great content. Oh, and the porn stars too, of course. They give more than anyone! It’s our tradition to picture our dream man Rusty Joiner (above) each year. He still hasn’t given in, but we still think he Should Do Porn. Some things never change!

News: We’re Four!…and More

My, how time flies when you’re blogging! It’s been four years since the launch of VincentLambert.com. In that time, we survived year one (and the controversy surrounding our interview with Johnny Hanson about his decision to bareback), year two (this interview with Jordan Young from 1999 got picked up by The Insider and others) and year three (when we got to hang out with Simon Dexter and Jeremy Feist). In the past 12 months, we kept up the hard work with stories about porn superstars going to jail (we pretty much had the exclusive on the Robert Van Damme arrest, including his first post-prison photos and interview) and stripping for their fans (Jason Adonis and Ralph Woods). We also chatted with classic studs Clay Maverick (about his nonexistent comeback) and Mark Dalton (about his new career in bodybuilding) and newbies Logan Drake and DeAngelo Jackson.

We took another boat ride with some porn stars; went to the theater for a short-lived porn play and a one-man show; attended an awards ceremony for hookers; and caught up with our favorite nasty bodybuilder. We had our annual calendar contest (thanks to our sponsor, Titan Media); reviewed movies; and watched TV. Vince also did guest spots on the Cock2Go Show and LA Talk Radio’s The Alternative to hype the site. And sadly, we reported the untimely death of a promising young star. All in all, it was a year.

As always, we want to thank our loyal readers for clicking and all our fellow bloggers (who support us) and the studios and porn stars who give of themselves (so to speak). This fourth anniversary is the perfect time to let you guys know about some upcoming changes. The real world is calling, kids, and over the next few weeks, we won’t be able to sit in front of a computer 24/7 (as we have for the past four years). We will check in and out, but it might get a bit quiet around here. We’d like to invite you to delve into our archives for interviews with numerous screen studs, to read our more than 150 (!) movie reviews and peruse whatever else you might find of interest here. Good porn never gets old, right!? In the meantime, we’re still holding out hope that our guy Rusty Joiner (above) Should Do Porn!

News: Count Three and Pray

Okay, it’s time to run our annual drool-worthy picture of Rusty Joiner. Trusty Rusty was here when we turned one and two. Now the Icon Men hunk is back to celebrate the third anniversary of VincentLambert.com! Yes, kids, another year has passed and we continue to blog about gay porn in its many incarnations. This year, the industry kept evolving (or devolving, depending on who you asked), and we did our best to keep up and keep y’all informed. We went on porn cruises, attended erotic art fairs and watched as they handed out awards to hookers (yes, they give awards for that!). We interviewed famous directors and photographed veteran ones. We traveled to L.A. and made it to Industry (before it went kaput) and even had Cocktails With the Stars. And of course there were the models, young and, er, classic: We ate lunch with Simon Dexter and dinner with Jeremy Feist (young); we played bingo with Robert Van Damme and hit the road with Mark Dalton (definitely classic). But it was old-timer Dean Phoenix and newcomer Robert Gonzalez who really got us going.

At the movies, we joined in the Best of the Decade group blogging event (here’s Part 1 and Part 2) with numerous other industry writers, spotted trends (twins!), called out a lame documentary and actually found something watchable on MTV! We continued the Should Do Porn posts that first put us on the map (Mr. Joiner was one of the premier subjects), held our annual calendar contest (thanks, Raging Stallion!) and even wrote about video games (we hear the kids like ’em). Although we’ve never been nominated or won an award (hint), sometime in the past year we landed on the Starrfucker.net Top 10 Blog list. Vince showed up as a “porn expert” on The Derek and Romaine Show on Sirius Radio and continued to write for Unzipped, Men, Freshmen and GAYVN, until they folded or downsized! We also did lots of Tweeting over the past 12 months (follow us @VinceLambertNYC)—or at least as much as time (and our scintillating workout schedule) allowed.

So it was a year. It might not sound like much, but we did our best to bring you all the latest gay porn news, gossip and information—or at least the stories that we found interesting and/or amusing. After all, if you can’t get a good giggle from this crazy biz, then what’s the point? Thanks to all the readers who visit on a daily basis (are we really approaching 1.5 million unique visitors!?) and to all the other sites and bloggers who offer links, support and encouragement. Oh, and the studios and porn stars too, who make much of our content possible. And props to anyone who can figure out the origins of our obscure headline today (courtesy of one of our fave ’80s bands). Keep reading, writing in and commenting, guys. The rest is yet to come!

Should Do Porn: Johnny Weir

While we’ve always preferred the Summer Olympics (more naked guys), the Winter Olympics start this Friday in Vancouver and we can’t help but be a little excited. Especially after getting sucked into Sundance Channel’s new reality series Be Good Johnny Weir. Now, a week ago, we had never heard of this flamboyant young queen. It turns out that Johnny Weir is an edgy 25-year-old diva bitch/figure skater who first hit the ice at age 12 and has since gone on to win (and lose) tons of titles and medals.

This nine-part series kicks off with a 90-minute documentary titled Pop Star on Ice, in which supercute Johnny skates, cavorts in fur with best bud Paris and designs his own costumes (some of which look like cast-offs from an old Cher tour). In between, Weir camps it up by donning glasses and a blonde wig and doing a Russian accent in tribute to his new coach, Galina. The three-time U.S. champ also primps, poses, applies makeup and shows off his hot twink body. This guy’s ass is art!

Just what the world needs, another trashy and self-indulgent reality show, right? But Johnny’s tireless quest for gold makes this one oddly compelling. And his overall boyish good looks and adorable personality (and did we mention hot bod?) make this one hard to resist. So tune in to Sundance Channel Mondays at 10:30 pm to watch, and in the meantime, we just can’t resist: Should Do Porn!

Press: Ben Cohen on Attitude Magazine Cover

The cover of the October issue of Britain’s Attitude magazine trumpets “Big Ben Cohen.” Do they know something we don’t? Actually, we’ve been lusting after this humpy English rugby player for a while now, and although we still think that he Should Do Porn, at least he’s posed from some (more) revealing new pics. Attitude even dubs Cohen “a bear icon.” Inside the issue, he talks about his gay fans (there’s got to be tons!), athletes who come out of the closet and what he really thinks of his own body. No, he’s not a gay porn star, but he should be! Just look at that hot bod! We’ve been following blond supercutie Ashley Parker Angel since his days of boy-band fame with O-Town on Making the Band. Who can forget his steamy shower scene? And remember how pervy manager Lou Pearlman (now rotting in jail for shady business dealings) used to show up and leer at the guys? O-Town was a “band” from Florida that was manufactured by MTV for the ABC reality show (before it got all urban with Diddy). The group made two albums before calling it quits. Ashley landed another crap MTV show titled There & Back about his attempts to make it as a solo artist in the music industry (it was also about his relationship with the mother of his son, Lyric). When the couple went bust, he moved to New York and made his Broadway debut as Link in Hairspray. Should Do Porn: Chris Carmack

When we heard that they were making a sequel to the 2005 underwater classic Into the Blue, we could barely contain ourselves. What could possibly beat the sight of superhotties Paul Walker and Scott Caan stripped to the waist? (Oh, and for our many hetero readers, a bikini-clad Jessica Alba was in there too.) Sure, the movie sucked, but that didn’t matter. Now, we’ve found some on-set pics from the direct-to-DVD sequel. The new film, Into the Blue 2: The Reef, stars Chris Carmack and Audrina Patridge (she’s an actress now? Well, at least she has a few years of experience from MTV’s fake reality show The Hills). Hunky Carmack has appeared on The O.C. and Desperate Housewives. And who can forget his TV movie Lovewrecked? The former Abercrombie & Fitch model even appeared on Broadway in the revival of Joe Orton’s Entertaining Mr. Sloane with Alec Baldwin. News: We’re Turning Two!

Why are they called the terrible twos? Yes, it’s been two years of gay porn news, gossip and information from VincentLambert.com. And don’t forget the movies reviews, new releases and porn star interviews! It’s hard to believe that we’ve written almost a thousand posts and are poised to welcome our millionth unique visitor (!). Time flies in gay porn land, and the past year has been one of transition and change for the industry. We did our best to cover it and bring you the stories that we thought were the most interesting and essential. Although we never know what will strike your fancy. When former porn star Jordan Young got a major promotion in the nonporn world, our decade-old interview with him got picked up by Defamer.com and other major outlets and became one of our most-read posts of the year. (Btw, we took that pic too!)

We also learned that we’re huge in Japan—or at least Billy Herrington is, thanks to a new action figure (below), so we got tons of traffic from Asia due to our coverage of that veteran bodybuilding stud. We branched out into music reviews (Mitch Branson and Colton Ford), reality TV (Big Brother, The Bachelorette, The Real World, True Life), books (The Great Cock Hunt) and documentaries (Wrangler). We covered parties about penis, erotic expos and alleged rapes (not on the same night). We ran into porn stars at signings and even rode on a boat with some. We interviewed a famous porn couple and visited the set of Lucas Entertainment’s Cock Stalker. And a bunch of dead porn stars inspired our first contest. Vince’s writing continued to appear in GAYVN, Unzipped, Freshmen and elsewhere. We even started tweeting the latest news updates on Twitter (follow us @ VinceLambertNYC)! Should Do Porn: The Real World’s Scott Herman

MTV is subjecting viewers to another tired season of the original lame reality show The Real World. This year, producers have dragged a bunch of unsuspecting wannabes to remote Brooklyn and set them up in a glamorous waterside residence that is so not Brooklyn. In an attempt to mix things up, there are eight roommates this season (wow! edgy!), among them an obnoxious Iraq war vet, an aspiring hip-hop dancer, a former lesbian, a cute token gay guy who trains dolphins (?) and even a transgender chick named Katelynn. (Warmonger Ryan, though hot, loses major points when he refers to cute Kate as “It.” Luckily NYC drag diva Peppermint shows up in the second episode to punk him.)

The least interesting roomie is probably personal trainer Scott Herman. As soon as the show debuted, these sexy pics of the Men’s Health model from New Hampshire surfaced, which at least got the straight stud some attention. And speaking of straight, can any show on MTV be gayer than Brody Jenner’s Bromance? His recent gratuitous shower scene really got our gaydar going. Regular guys always shower in front of their buds, right? Right? This shameless reality whore is the one who really Should Do Porn!

Guy Candy: Kyle Bornheimer

Is it just us or is this guy hot? Kyle Bornheimer is the star of CBS’s new Monday night sitcom Worst Week. If you live in New York City, you’ve probably seen his picture plastered on subways and bus stops all over town. He is usually scantily clad in his plastic diaper (above), thanks to a plot device in the first episode. In that time, our original concept (which was to create a sort of online archive of more than a decade’s worth of interviews, reviews, on-the-set reports and photos) has grown by leaps and bounds—and so has our traffic (with more than a quarter million hits so far). And what a premier year it’s been: The site has been featured in Cybersocket Web Magazine and was a pick for HX Site of the Week; our original “Should Do Porn” column spotlighting Rusty Joiner (above) landed us our biggest traffic day to that point; then our exclusive interview with Johnny Hanson on his bareback debut got picked up by numerous outlets, leading to our biggest traffic day ever! New superstar Johnny Castle granted us his only sitdown after being named Man of the Year by Men magazine, but our classic interviews with Jeff Stryker, Ryan Idol, Billy Herrington and Tom Katt proved to be just as popular. Our most read review? Caesar’s Hardhat Gang Bang! Who knew? We visited the set of Lucas Entertainment’s award-winning sex comedy The Intern and traveled to San Francisco for the GAYVN Awards. We were even invited to join a Blog Circle Jerk! And, of course, one good thing leads to another. Thanks to the site, Vince landed his own monthly column for XBIZ magazine (with old bud Jeremy Spencer) and continues to contribute to GAYVN, Unzipped and other magazines.
