News: We’re One!

Who can believe that it’s been a year since the launch of VincentLambert.com? In that time, our original concept (which was to create a sort of online archive of more than a decade’s worth of interviews, reviews, on-the-set reports and photos) has grown by leaps and bounds—and so has our traffic (with more than a quarter million hits so far). And what a premier year it’s been: The site has been featured in Cybersocket Web Magazine and was a pick for HX Site of the Week; our original “Should Do Porn” column spotlighting Rusty Joiner (above) landed us our biggest traffic day to that point; then our exclusive interview with Johnny Hanson on his bareback debut got picked up by numerous outlets, leading to our biggest traffic day ever! New superstar Johnny Castle granted us his only sitdown after being named Man of the Year by Men magazine, but our classic interviews with Jeff Stryker, Ryan Idol, Billy Herrington and Tom Katt proved to be just as popular. Our most read review? Caesar’s Hardhat Gang Bang! Who knew? We visited the set of Lucas Entertainment’s award-winning sex comedy The Intern and traveled to San Francisco for the GAYVN Awards. We were even invited to join a Blog Circle Jerk! And, of course, one good thing leads to another. Thanks to the site, Vince landed his own monthly column for XBIZ magazine (with old bud Jeremy Spencer) and continues to contribute to GAYVN, Unzipped and other magazines.

A special thanks must go to our Web mistress Sally Stover, for her expertise and advice, and to all the faithful readers who visit to read our daily updates. Even though we don’t get a lot of comments (yet!), we appreciate those regular contributors (you know who you are) who weigh in on their favorite movies and porn stars. So send an e-mail or leave a comment and let’s keep the dialogue going! In our second year, VincentLambert.com hopes to keep bringing you the very best the biz has to offer in a way that is exciting and new. And though we can’t cover every story that comes down the pike, we promise to pick the ones that interest us and hope that they interest you, too. Long live the Internets—and gay porn!

Movie Review: Cowboy

BY VINCENT LAMBERT

Director: Blue Blake.
Cast: Caesar, Brad Rock, Tom Katt, Rhett O'Hara, Dane Brando, Sal Lombardi, Staten McCormack, Ray Stone, Kelly Madison, Evan Taylor, Blue Blake.

The long-discussed Blue Blake’s Cowboy rides into town this month, and it was well worth the wait. Superstar Caesar is back on-screen in the lead role of Cowboy O’Connor, a pumped-up bodybuilder who hits the road. Along the way he encounters twinks such as Rhett O’Hara (supercute in an auspicious debut) and Dane Brando (who also shows promise). But Cowboy has a secret, and it takes the love of a good man to draw it out.

When we first see Cowboy, he is waking from a restless sleep, haunted by dreams of mansex. This leads to Caesar’s oral-only scene with O’Hara. These two tattooed loveboys complement each other perfectly. Cowboy proceeds to rob poor little Rhett before heading out of town. He is picked up by Brando, who inexplicably flashes back to the family mechanic (Sal Lombardi) fixing his father’s truck. This scene makes no sense in the scheme of the story, but the built Lombardi is so beautiful and delivers such a juicy cum shot, any lapses in the plotline are forgiven.

Back to the story, we learn that loner Cowboy has lost his entire family in a fire. Brando offers to help by putting him to work on his ranch and ends up sucking his dick. This is a beautiful outdoor sequence, as Caesar gives a focused, ferocious performance. He pounds Brando on a table, on a chair and then splooges on his face.

The affections of the fledging lovebirds don’t go unnoticed by farmhands Tom Katt and Evan Taylor. They speculate on the nature of the new relationship before getting busy themselves, enjoying a strenuous fuck on a tractor.

In the next scene, we get to the heart of Cowboy’s family secret with a steamy shower threeway featuring Staten McCormack, Kelly Madison and Ray Stone. This one is for all the manly men lovers out there. (One quibble: Cowboy says that this flashback happened “years ago,” so we’d like to know why his father, uncle and cousin are all wearing very current Ralph Lauren Polo undies!)

After a fun cameo from director Blue Blake as Detective Cooper, a no-nonsense gumshoe, we get a high-energy chase scene that ends with another hot coupling, which this time has Caesar bottoming for sexy cop Brad Rock. We won’t give away the mystery (or surprise ending) here, but Caesar’s final chilling moments will surely earn him a Best Actor nod at next year’s GAYVN Awards.

Blue Blake’s Cowboy
is a neat little thriller. It is lovely to look at, has a meaty story line, good performances and, most important, hot man action. We even like the catchy “Cowboy” theme song by Rock Hard. (Maybe because it sounds like it was inspired by Madonna’s own dancing-cowboy video, “Don’t Tell Me.”) Cowboy should ride off into the sunset with a slew of accolades. (Big Blue Productions/Arena)

Event: Joey and Carlo Palm Springs Pool Party

STORY AND PHOTOS BY VINCENT LAMBERT

Palm Springs is known for its hot weather and the hotter men who party there; and the weekend of September 20 was no exception. That’s when the Los Angeles porn posse ventured to this desert resort town for the second-annual Joey and Carlo Palm Springs Pool Party, which was actually held in neighboring Cathedral City, California. The event helped raise more than $2,000 for the Adult Industry Medical (AIM) HealthCare Foundation, a nonprofit organization created to care for the physical and emotional needs of sex workers and others in the adult-entertainment industry. The weekend festivities included autograph sessions with the stars, a XXX model search hosted by directrix Chi Chi LaRue and funny man Bruce Vilanch, a silent auction, raffles and a bevy of naked porn stars basking in the 115-degree heat.

The three days of events kicked off with an underwear party on Friday night, where guests familiarized themselves with the grounds of the Cathedral City Boys Club, the 3.5-acre spread on which the parties took place. Under an outdoor tent, columnist Jason Sechrest interviewed old-timer Ryan Idol, who revealed that he may sue Odyssey Men, the porn studio that pulled out of producing his Idol Cruise video. Together, they hosted an amateur wet underwear contest.

But Saturday was the main event, when fans could relax by the pool, enjoy the sunshine and catch up with their favorite porn stars. Supercouple Blake Harper and Colton Ford explained that the camera crew following them around was for a Miramax documentary focusing on their lives and burgeoning non-porn careers. We learned that Harper is studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute and working on an indie film titled Lost Everything. While Ford, who was a singer before he was a screen stud, is working with producer Frankie Knuckles on his first album and will have a single titled “Everything” dropping in November. They also continue to make porn films and stay at the Live and Raw Hotel, where subscribers on the Internet can follow their every move on 12 live cams. Seems like privacy isn’t that big with these two.

In the air-conditioned VIP room, Caesar, who is bigger than ever, confirmed the November release of Cowboy, his first starring role in more than a year. Fellow bodybuilder and co-star Tom Katt was there too, fresh from shooting a scene in Ken Ryker’s self-written/produced/directed film. Superhung Spike revealed that he’s taking a break from the porn world to work on his art but is checking into the Live and Raw Hotel in October to room with Blake and Colton. Sounds cozy to us. Chi Chi LaRue plugged the release of her latest for Channel One Releasing, 2nd Gear, the sequel to In Gear starring (who else?) Lance Gear. The diva also expressed surprise about seeing her picture in the September issue of Vanity Fair. The bitch has arrived!

Director Drew Warner of Sports and Recreation Video proudly introduced his sexy new discoveries, lovers Matthew Faulkner and Nate Bater, to an eager crowd. These cuties star in Warner’s amateur CornFedBoyz video line. Boston boy Anthony Holloway told us that he has just moved from the East Coast to take up residence in West Hollywood with boyfriend Brad Rudolph. He has also filmed a new movie for director Paul Barresi’s Regiment Studios titled Bad Boys, Volume 4.

Also seen: Dino Phillips, who had hosted Derek Cameron the previous night at “Cocktails with the Stars” at Micky’s; Flex-Deon Blake, who has moved to L.A. following his break-up with Bobby Blake; tattooed newbie Rhett O’Hara, who reminisced about his days working as director Blue Blake’s chauffeur and chef before he was discovered for films; Chris Green, who was talking up his Web site and single “Drive” from 2nd Gear. We also heard that New York queen CoCo LaChine has accepted a job as director of operations for All Worlds Video and is relocating to San Diego to work for the major porn studio. She’ll be missed!

A hangover barbecue on Sunday afternoon hosted by Michael Brandon brought the weekend to a close as many of the stars prepared to return to L.A. But event co-founders Joey Di Bartolo and Carlo Ricci seemed pleased with their efforts. “Our site promotes sex workers and focuses on the adult industry,” said Ricci, “so we figured this would be a good event for us to promote. We wanted to help AIM, which is a great organization. I think the fans and porn stars all had a good time.”

Porn Star Interview: Scott Matthews

BY VINCENT LAMBERT

Scott Matthews enjoys being a porn star, and he’s the first person to admit it. This Southern stud—who was born in Mobile, Alabama, grew up in Atlanta and attended college in North Carolina—has taken the business by storm in the past year with his wholesome good looks and mouthwatering endowment. At age 29, he has made ten films (including Night Riders, Iron Will and Another Man’s Hand), but he never actually planned on getting into the porn industry. Matthews originally came to New York City to pursue a career in musical theater. So how did he end up making a living off the nine-inch wonder that resides in his trousers? We met up with him recently and posed that and many other questions. He showed up for lunch on a broiling August day dressed in a tank top and denim shorts, but it wasn’t the bulge in his pants that impressed us, it was his sparkling aqua-blue eyes.

Are those your real eyes?
Yes, they are (laughs). People always think that they’re contacts but they’re real.
I’ve never seen eyes that color before.
Oh, thanks. They all mine.
So how did you get started in the porn industry?
I was always interested in porn. I have a huge collection of it. I think most porn stars do. And people had always told me I was very well-endowed. A friend of mine knew a director in New Jersey named Robert Prion, and I went to one of his parties. He offered me a film, and we came up with a name for me. That was my first agreed-upon movie (Shameless). At the same time, my friend also introduced me to Michael Lucas, and we shot that movie (Homebodies) first. At the same time, I was e-mailing Alec Powers and Chris Rock, and I sent them pictures over the Internet. They sent them to the agent Peter Scott, and he wanted to represent me. So from that, I made a couple of trips to L.A. and met Chi Chi LaRue and a lot of other people, including the Falcon people and that’s how I got that film (Iron Will).
Now, you were 28 or 29 years old. Was this something you consciously decided to do?
No, it just happened. I think I look younger than I am. I don’t think I would have been ready for it when I was younger. I came from a very conservative, religious household in Georgia. Mentally, I don’t think I could have handled it sooner.
Does your family know you are in the industry?
No, they don’t know. I don’t think it’s very important. They have their own lives, and they are not in an area where they might be subjected to it. It’s no big deal.
Do they know you’re gay?
Oh, yeah.
What was it like doing that first movie?
Before the movies, I had done some dancing in a small club in New York to get rid of my self-consciousness. It was easy money, too. That made me more comfortable being naked in front of people. So it wasn’t that hard for me to get naked and get hard the first time on a movie set.
When did you first know you were so well-endowed?
My first lover, actually. I was 20. It was when I first came out. I had lived a very sheltered life before. We started having sex together and he told me. And I was, like, “Oh, really?” Where I grew up we didn’t really have gym class where you could compare. But I eventually found out.
How did you first discover jerking off?
The movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High! There’s a scene where Phoebe Cates is getting out of the pool and Judge Reinhold is jerking off in the bathroom. And that is what prompted me to learn about it. I did what I thought he was doing, and it happened.
What is the hottest scene you’ve done and with whom?
The movie I did for Paul Barresi (Marine Father, Navy Son). I have a scene with Alex Wilcox, and he’s straight. He only has gay sex on film. I play a sailor and he’s a Marine. And we were in a little bathroom and I bottomed for him. It was a really hot scene. We did everything. I think it’s the whole idea of him being straight that turned me on so much.
How do you feel about topping versus bottoming?
I want to be as good as a bottom as I am as a top. I think my top abilities are still better because I’m not that experienced as a bottom. But I think I do very well. In real life, I don’t really have a preference. If I am dating someone, he has to be versatile or I get bored!
Have you ever had a problem fucking a guy because of your dick size?
Oh, yeah. There have been a couple of guys in the industry who are bottoms who had trouble taking it. But they get used to it and are fine. One young guy just couldn’t take it. We had to work around it.
Are there any sexual fantasies that you have lived out on film?
I am still waiting for some to come true. I’m still pretty new to the industry.
Are there any porn stars you’d like to work with?
I’ve always wanted to work with Tom Katt. I’ve wanted to top him in a scene so bad. I like topping big muscular men. I have a thing for South American guys, Brazilians, bodybuilder types. I did a scene with Eric Evans in Gino Colbert’s new movie, Porn Fiction. He’s a big, hairy boy, and it was hot.
Have you always been attracted to that?
Yeah, but it’s not necessarily the best thing for me long-term or relationship-wise.
Are you in a relationship now?
Yeah, I’m currently involved with someone I care about immensely. It’s been about three or four months. Not that long, but for me, that’s good (laughs). I’m very happy. We have a lot in common and enjoy spending a lot of time together.
Would you say you’re an exhibitionist?
It depends. I keep my porn life and my real life totally separate. Scott is an exhibitionist when he is working, on the set or at a publicity event. He likes being looked at, but in real life, when I’m at the gym, I’m very private. I don’t walk around naked. I don’t shower there. Being Scott Matthews is like an acting role for me.
What is your ultimate fantasy scene?
Well, I’ve always had a daddy fantasy. I’m the son, of course. But I wind up fucking the daddy in the end. Kind of like a Zak Spears daddy type—very muscular and hairy. I’ve always wanted to top a top.
Your image is so wholesome and boy-next-door. Have you ever gotten into anything kinky, like fisting?
Well, I love giving it. I’ve fisted, not on video but in real life. I have fisted about three guys. It’s hot. One time I went to this little private party in New York, and I had fisted this friend of mine before. And there was this younger guy—really hot, great face, nice body, cute—and my hand went in and then I was doing double-fisting action. I hit his bladder and he peed all over himself! I thought it was really hot.
Anything else?
Well, I used to go to sex clubs. I loved to go to sex clubs and have anonymous sex. I’m a big voyeur. Sometimes, I like watching sex more than I like doing it. I love to watch, then get involved. People don’t always pay attention to me until they see my dick. Once they see my dick, they’re all over me.
When you meet a guy, is dick size important to you?
I’m not a size queen. As long as it works. I’m a face guy. I like gorgeous, handsome men. He doesn’t have to have a muscular body. It can be toned, proportioned. I’m attracted to someone for their face and personality.
Do you ever watch your own movies?
Once. After I get the movie, I’ll watch it once to see what it’s like. But I would never jerk off to myself. That’s gross (laughs).
What do you see for the future?
I want to take this as far as I can take it. I want to have a prolonged career. I just want to see how long I can do it. And that means not being overexposed.
Ever get any strange requests from your fans?
I sold a pair of socks to somebody in Sweden once (laughs). I wore them for the whole day and to the gym, so they were nice and smelly and I put them in a bag and sent them to Sweden.
How much did he pay?
I think it was $30, including postage! It was fun.
Just how big is your dick?
Oh, it’s 9 x 8. Nine inches long, and eight inches around. For real. I have measured it. I’m known for my thickness more than my length.
Your fans know a lot about you. What don’t they know?
That I’m very insecure sometimes and don’t always consider myself attractive. But I’m trying to change that.
What would you like your fans to know about you?
That I’m a really down-to-earth person, and if they ever see me on the street, come up and say hello because I’m not a very stuck-up person. I’m very shy, but if they want to say hello, I’m very friendly. I don’t consider myself a major porn star or anything!

Porn Star Interview: Tom Katt

BY VINCENT LAMBERT

There’s one question that everyone asks when you say that you’ve met porn superstar Tom Katt: Was he hairy or smooth? It seems that after five years in the movie business, this muscle-bound screen stud still manages to keep his audience guessing. But on a recent stop in New York for an appearance at the Eros Theatre, Katt made it clear that when it comes to speaking his mind, there is no guessing involved.

The 26-year-old actor got his start in the porn business in 1991 when he met and was offered a job by the owner of Fox Studios (which briefly renamed him Thom Payne). “I jumped in with both feet,” Katt says. “You hear stories about people getting suckered into it or all that shit, but it was never anything like that for me. I figured, what the hell? I’m young—someday I’ll be old and saggy. You only live once. I don't view this as being something wrong and terrible. I feel no guilt for anything I've done, even though certain sectors of society might want to push that feeling on me and my peers in this business.”

Born and raised in Georgia, Katt grew up in an Italian/French household. “But it wasn’t hard-core,” he laughs. “You wouldn't go to my house and see it as a scene out of The Godfather or anything. We weren’t that bad.” Besides the 20 films he’s appeared in, including Abduction 2:The Conflict (Falcon) and Total Corruption 2 (HIS), Katt has also pursued a career as a bodybuilder. When he’s not working as a personal trainer, he spends most of his time preparing for his next competition. In November, he will head to Italy to vie for the amateur Mr. Universe title. “I have a competitive streak in me,” Katt says. “I just can’t get rid of it.”

However, working in gay skin flicks hasn’t exactly been helpful to his bodybuilding career. Katt, never one to mince words, turns serious. “Let’s face it, this is the closed-minded U.S.A. What a lot of people do behind closed doors—which is no different from what I do on film—they’ll crucify me for. It’s very hypocritical. On the amateur level, in this country, it hasn’t hurt me. Professionally, I don't think it’s possible to compete here, so I’ll go to Europe. This isn't the only country that has bodybuilding.”

And if he had to choose between a life of powerlifting or powerfucking for the camera? “I enjoy both careers,” Katt says, “but let’s face it—the sun rises and sets a lot quicker in porno. I don't think I’m too much of an old has-been yet, but I don't want to push it to the point where I’m old and tired and everyone is sick of me.”

Although Katt says that he’s bisexual, his work sometimes proves problematic when it comes to the romance department. “It’s impossible to be in a relationship in this business,” he says. “It’s like, ‘I love you, honey, but I’m gonna go get fucked in a movie, see ya later—kiss.’ I wouldn’t want someone to do that to me, and I wouldn’t do it to someone else. I’d like to be in a steady relationship, who wouldn't? I hope it’ll happen eventually.”

In the meantime, Katt keeps a low profile and takes his celebrity in stride. He still lives in Georgia and stays close to his family. “I don't go to them and say, ‘Hey, Pops, check out my new movie.’ I've shown them some magazines I was in. People around me know. I don't make a point of flaunting it. I don't make a point of hiding it either. If they know, they know; if they don't, they don't. If they have a problem with it, they can kiss my ass.”

As he preps for his next bodybuilding competition, Katt has been touring as a dancer and fielding movie offers, including a possible teaming with Ryan Idol and Ken Ryker. “I’m nowhere near the point of being jaded,” he says. “I’m still having a great time.”

As he looks down at his baby-smooth chest, Katt laughs, “Yeah, a gang of thugs tackled me and shaved me!”

Got it, guys? Smooth.
