Short Takes: Riley Price Breaks Out…and More

Well, we were gonna open this week with an item about the new Manhunt app for both iPhone and Android, but it sucks. (Seriously, it takes forever to load, the GPS is way off, every other pic says “Too hot for iPhone” and you can’t even text on it! Back to the drawing board, Manhunt. Stick with Grindr, you guys.) So instead, we’ll tell you about Riley Price (above) and his new plans for the new year. Earlier this year, French said that his studio still hadn’t been paid the bulk of a $2.2 million promissory note related to the sale of the company more than seven years ago. Renowned photographer and industry vet French founded the studio in 1967. The COLT line now includes subsidiary imprints Buckshot Productions, Minute Men and Olympus, in addition to a COLT-branded line of products that features fashion apparel, leather gear and novelties such as calendars and books. Let’s hope that the venerable studio will continue to showcase models and produce movies like this one.…Speaking of industry vets, director Lucas Kazan and his studio were the subject of an Italian documentary that recently aired on Sky/CurrentTV. Italian filmmakers Alberto D’Onofrio and Alessandra Ugolini spent a couple of days in October 2009 on the set of a Kazan film. The cast and crew, including porn stars Ettore Tosi (below), Jean Franko, Jordan Fox, Alex Magnum and Federico D’Angelo, were filmed for the 30-minute episode, which aired as part of the Business of Sex series. Falcon Studios has announced the release date of its major fall movie, the two-part Best Men. Falcon exclusive Tony Capucci stars as a groom in Part 1: The Bachelor Party, which was filmed in Las Vegas. Directed by John Bruno, the film features the now infamous oral-only scene between Zeb Atlas (left) and Matthew Rush. Part 2: The Wedding Party picks up in Los Angeles the night before Tony’s wedding day and includes the first-ever hard-core sex scene between Atlas and Adam Killian, which was prereleased online at www.falconstudios.com on September 26. The full film will be available online October 14 and on DVD October 28.…Porn star Steve Cruz has reported on his blog that the set of his directing debut for Mustang, Blue Movie, was raided by LAPD detectives last week and the studio was issued a citation for not having the proper permits. Event: More GAYVN Awards Coverage

We continue our coverage of the 10th-Annual GAYVN Awards with more exclusive pictures and dish from the show, which was held last Saturday at the Giftcenter in San Francisco. Sirius Radio personalities Derek and Romaine hosted, filling the big shoes of last year’s host Kathy Griffin (who interestingly booked the Castro Theatre, where the awards took place in 2007, on the same night to perform her comedy act. Our spies tell us that Griffin had faux protesters outside the theater carrying signs that read, “You want an awards show? Suck this!”). The duo decided to answer their very vocal critics (especially the guys at Naked Sword who compared them to potted houseplants) by bringing two actual plants on-stage to start the show. It took the audience a while, but eventually they caught on.

Before that, Lady Bunny performed one of her hysterical song parodies geared especially to the crowd (“All That Jazz” became “All That Jizz”). Later, the NYC drag queen and DJ returned with a string of one-liners that skewered her XXX-rated audience (Sample joke: “I told Michael Lucas to act his age, so he died!”). Chi Chi LaRue, a former host of the show, also took the stage to hype the crowd for the beleaguered new hosts and to ask that the industry come together, even if just for that one night. Overall, Derek and Romaine acquitted themselves nicely, offering up some bitchy barbs and (in the case of Romaine) an intentional nip slip. But when all was said and done, their participation was kept to a minimum and, thanks to some of our fellow judges who rarely stopped yapping throughout the show, we could barely hear the leafy duo!

Some of our favorite moments: the entrance of porn It Couple of the Moment Jesse Santana and Guy Parker, both tan beyond their years and chomping gum in unison; the introduction of Hall of Fame presenter Gino Colbert with his name spelled out on the ass cheeks of Falcon’s exclusive power pair Aden and Jordan Jaric; the well-deserved induction of longtime porn superstar Rod Barry into the GAYVN Hall of Fame; Amazonia: Capture and Release director Dennis Bell mentioning its late star Danny Roddick when he accepted the award for Best Ethnic-Themed Video (Latin); and Grunts’ Chris Ward thanking “all the skinny people who make these movies possible” when he won Best Director with Ben Leon.

However, not everyone was completely satisfied with the results. The morning after the awards, Lucas Entertainment president and CEO Michael Lucas sent out a mass e-mail to GAYVN judges and media wondering why his hit sex comedy The Intern (which was named Best Renting Title of 2007) won four awards but his glossy Gigolo, a more serious bid for award approval, received none. “So what went wrong with Gigolo that it got nothing?” Lucas wrote. “If you praised Gigolo as a groundbreaking film, then acknowledge it. Gigolo is a serious feature that was raved about. The Intern is a cute comedy. What went wrong? Where is the common sense? I want the answers.”

Do you hear that, people? Lucas wants answers! What can we say? There’s nothing like a sore winner.

Movie Review: The Innkeeper: Hotel Italia 2

Director Lucas Kazan returns to Italy for a stunning sequel to Hotel Italia. This time around, gorgeous hotel owner Sasha Byazrov has his pick of some equally pretty guests. Filmed entirely on location at a beautiful Italian location, The Innkeeper offers five excellent scenes with an impressive cast. Supercute Matt Van Dorn (on loan from Studio 2000) bottoms nicely for hunky Matthias Vannelli. Beefy Vilem Cage and Max Veneziano get busy on a stairway—sucking, fucking and delivering juicy cum shots (though we could do without the gum-chewing!). Byazrov witnesses some sexy doings at his place, but the one man he desires (Michele Luppo) is oblivious to his charms. (In one hysterical sequence, Byazrov attempts to woo Luppo by doing suggestive things with a log. No wonder he fails to win him with these ridiculous moves!) However, Byazrov eventually entices the man of his dreams, but lucky for us he soon dumps him for Vannelli, which makes for the video’s hottest scene. Vannelli has an amazing physique, and he fucks like a dream. The lovely lighting and expert videography only enhance this dynamic duo. The great picture quality makes Kazan’s already attractive men look even more delectable. We can only hope a third visit to Hotel Italia is in the works. (Lucas Kazan Productions)
