News: We’re Four!…and More

My, how time flies when you’re blogging! It’s been four years since the launch of VincentLambert.com. In that time, we survived year one (and the controversy surrounding our interview with Johnny Hanson about his decision to bareback), year two (this interview with Jordan Young from 1999 got picked up by The Insider and others) and year three (when we got to hang out with Simon Dexter and Jeremy Feist). In the past 12 months, we kept up the hard work with stories about porn superstars going to jail (we pretty much had the exclusive on the Robert Van Damme arrest, including his first post-prison photos and interview) and stripping for their fans (Jason Adonis and Ralph Woods). We also chatted with classic studs Clay Maverick (about his nonexistent comeback) and Mark Dalton (about his new career in bodybuilding) and newbies Logan Drake and DeAngelo Jackson.

We took another boat ride with some porn stars; went to the theater for a short-lived porn play and a one-man show; attended an awards ceremony for hookers; and caught up with our favorite nasty bodybuilder. We had our annual calendar contest (thanks to our sponsor, Titan Media); reviewed movies; and watched TV. Vince also did guest spots on the Cock2Go Show and LA Talk Radio’s The Alternative to hype the site. And sadly, we reported the untimely death of a promising young star. All in all, it was a year.

As always, we want to thank our loyal readers for clicking and all our fellow bloggers (who support us) and the studios and porn stars who give of themselves (so to speak). This fourth anniversary is the perfect time to let you guys know about some upcoming changes. The real world is calling, kids, and over the next few weeks, we won’t be able to sit in front of a computer 24/7 (as we have for the past four years). We will check in and out, but it might get a bit quiet around here. We’d like to invite you to delve into our archives for interviews with numerous screen studs, to read our more than 150 (!) movie reviews and peruse whatever else you might find of interest here. Good porn never gets old, right!? In the meantime, we’re still holding out hope that our guy Rusty Joiner (above) Should Do Porn!

Until that happens…

blogs and kisses,

Seen: Clay Maverick and Rod Barry at Cocktails

PHOTOS COURTESY TBALL

No way! Look who showed up for Clay Maverick’s big return to the big biz at Micky’s last week. Do our eyes deceive us or is that the one and only porn legend Rod Barry!? It must have been the night for gay porn superstar returns because both classic screen studs showed up at Cocktails With the Stars in West Hollywood. Featured guest Maverick, who so kindly gave us his comeback interview, was promoting his new Web site and the future best-seller he’s writing. It also looks like he’s getting back to fighting weight! (see below) Meanwhile, dedicated fans know that Barry has taken a step back from the industry to work on some personal issues and has been living away from Los Angeles. We must say that he’s a sight for sore eyes. Keep up the good work, bb. Also seen: Alessio Romero, Alexsander Freitas, Lex Sabre and, of course, host Scotty B. Cocktails With the Stars unspools every Thursday night at Micky’s, and as we reported, they have a big September planned. Stay tuned.

Interview Exclusive: Clay Maverick Returns

Clay Maverick loves a challenge. That’s why the porn superstar has decided to make his latest return to the industry into a sort of Biggest Loser contest. When we last spoke to Maverick in 2002, he was primed for another comeback in the award-winning classic White Trash. After making a name for himself in the mid-1990s working for major studios such as Falcon, COLT and Studio 2000 in films such as Hard Focus, Big Timber and Carnal Intentions, Maverick decided to take a break from the big biz and return to school.

“I was a manic,” Maverick recalls of his first splash. “I did a lot of partying, spent a lot of money.” So the Seattle native made a move to Denver to study interior design. He got his degree and started working for a firm there. In 2002, he stuck his toes back in the water with a couple of movies, including White Trash, but soon returned to his legit career. When the economy started going south, Maverick was laid off from his job. He went back to Seattle in 2006 and started his own design company. “It’s a pain in the ass,” he says. “I’m more of a creative guy, not much of a businessman.”

But that creativity gave him the idea to write a book about his life and the years he spent in and around the porn industry. “I’ve got some crazy stories, man,” Maverick promises. “People won’t believe some of the stuff that went on in the old days. I’m writing this book to get my side of the story out—how I got into the business, the go-go dancing at clubs, making movies, all of it.” The book, titled Going Out on Top, will be serialized by the chapter on Amazon and through Maverick’s own Web site starting the end of this month.

And the prospect of writing his autobiography soon gave him the idea to make another comeback. “I decided I need to get my face back out there,” Maverick says. He realized how much the industry had changed in his absence and that new fans might need to be reminded about his contributions of more than a decade ago. “I think doing a few solo scenes will help with that, and they won’t cross any lines with my partner. It’s all about building awareness.”

(Note: Maverick is still as cagey about his sexual orientation as he was in 2002. He refers to having a partner but declines to elaborate or even divulge a gender.)

So, in a bid to reenter the industry, he decided to contact some of the studios he once worked for. “I went out in my backyard and my partner took some pics of me,” he says. “I decided to send them out and see if anyone was interested in hiring me.”

Now, the last time Maverick resumed his career, there was no Twitter, no blogs and no bitchy bloggers documenting his every move. Recent photos of the former Adonis, who is now 34, surfaced and showed him to be a bit, er, bloated. Then COLT Studio Group rejected him with a curt “keep working out and then contact us.” Maverick was surprised at the reaction. “I barely even looked at the pictures,” he recalls. “I knew I wasn’t in the best shape of my life, but I just e-mailed them out. It’s funny—when I was at my most lean back in the day, I was also doing speed and at my most unhealthy!” So was he hurt by some of the online comments about his appearance? “People are always gonna talk crap,” he says. “I’m used to it. In fact, I love snarky comments and I’m not easily offended.”

And he ended up using that criticism as inspiration to reinvent himself. “Being rejected was a great way to show what it’s like to get back into shape,” he says. The result is a new blog, Clay Maverick’s Ask a Porn Star, which documents his progress on a weekly basis. “I decided just for fun to become like a living experiment!”

And part of that experiment means hitting the gym and the weights. “I know exactly what to do,” Maverick says with confidence. “I know exactly how my body works. I started lifting weights in seventh grade. I have started doing more bodybuilding, shaping for symmetry. Sure, I’m dieting a bit and eating more healthfully, but it’s about moving the muscle around.”

Maverick predicts it will take him about two months to be ready to submit new audition pics. In the meantime, he’s looking pretty fine (see new exclusive photo above) for his first personal appearance since 2003 when he returns to Cocktails With the Stars at Micky’s in West Hollywood this Thursday, August 5. “Honestly, I don’t know what to expect,” he says. “I haven’t done an appearance in so long, but I’m excited.”

Maverick says that he’s looking forward to seeing fans—old and new—and plunging back into an industry that first welcomed him in 1997. “Sure, things have changed,” he says, “but the industry is still made up of all kinds of interesting characters. With my book, I hope to show the funny aspects of the business, but also bring some compassion for the performers. After all, they’re just humans too.”

And humans pick themselves up and put themselves back together when the going gets tough. Clay Maverick will finish his book and film his comeback scene soon. Count on it.

Short Takes: Kurt Wild Enters Rehab…and More

Anyone who follows porn star Kurt Wild (above) on Twitter knows that he has a tendency to, er, melt down from time to time. The married father of three (or is it four by now?) has had drunken run-ins—on Twitter, that is—with the likes of Michael Lucas and various producers and movie studios. Who can keep track!? Anyway, to no one’s surprise, the star of films such as Proven Straight, Gigolo and My Brother’s Hot Friend, who also made a notorious appearance on The Tyra Banks Show with fellow straight model Aaron James and was fired from his job at Subway, has announced via his Twitter account that he is “choosing to join an alcohol rehab facility and is joining Alcoholics Anonymous.” This follows a series of incoherent tweets in which Wild claimed that his wife had him arrested for abuse and that he was in jail. (Shades of Robert Van Damme!? One more abusive gay-for-pay porn star and we’ve got a trend on our hands!) In the case of the volatile and erratic Wild, one never knows what to expect. The Missouri–based star recently turned his formerly XXX-rated blog into a nature photography site! Wild wants to assure fans that he’s not retiring from porn at this time. Just that he is “alright and choosing a good choice for myself and everyone to see. I just want my respect back.” Sounds like a plan, dude.…On a more upbeat note, veteran porn star Clay Maverick (below) is planning a comeback. The now-34-year-old star of films such as White Trash (a personal fave!), Naked Highway and Handsome Drifters (check out this gorgeous classic cover here) has launched a new site and is promising “new photos, new videos and upcoming appearances.” Maverick, who we interviewed in 2002, also says that he just “can’t stay away” and is writing an online serialized book about his, um, “explosion into the porn industry. I’ll tell you stories that will twist your mind and make your toes curl!” Hey, the guy’s got a way with words! For more, visit officialclaymaverick.com.…It seems like just yesterday, or last October, that we were writing about studly Dean Flynn and kinky Tony Buff getting molded for their very own dildos. Now comes word from Titan Media that you or your man can finally “wrap you ass around Dean or Tony’s big tools!” The guys join the Realistic Cock line, which already features the many inches of Marco Blaze and Francois Sagat. Porn Star Interview: Clay Maverick

BY VINCENT LAMBERT

Spread the word: Clay Maverick is back! The 26-year-old superstud who first turned the porn world on its ear in 1997 has returned from a two-year hiatus to star in MSR Videos latest release, White Trash. And Maverick brings along six feet and 185 pounds of smooth, hard muscle.

Originally from Seattle, the hunk relocated three years ago to Denver, where he is a full-time interior-design student. Maverick began dancing at a club in Seattle in 1997. It was there that he was approached by a talent scout. “The guy asked if I would be interested in jerking off,” Maverick recalls. “He said I would get paid $1,500. I figured I would be jerking off anyway, so I agreed!”

That resulted in his first scene, a solo in the video Hard Focus. Maverick felt so comfortable in front of the camera that when Big Video asked him to go all the way on film, he had no problem with it. “They said it would pay more,” he says, “so I figured I would do it.” Soon after, he signed an exclusive contract with the studio. This led to appearances in such hit videos as Naked Highway and Handsome Drifters. Then Studio 2000 came to call, and Maverick signed with them for such films as Billy 2000, The Big Shot and Night Riders. After that contract expired, Maverick went on to work for Falcon Studios (Sting: A Taste for Leather), Men of Odyssey (Carnal Intentions), Atomic Video (West Hollywood Hope) and others.

In 1999, Maverick decided to take a breather from the industry. “I just needed a break,” he says. So he returned to everyday life and took a job as a milkman (just imagine that delivery!). “Doing porn hadn’t really changed my life,” he says. “None of my friends really cared that I had done it.” But when Maverick made the decision to return to school, the porn world once again beckoned. “I needed the money,” he says.

Since his comeback, Maverick has done a couple of orgy scenes for Falcon and starred in White Trash. “It’s good to be back,” he says. “Doing a scene is such a turn-on. It’s hot. It was especially fun making White Trash. [Director] Tony Alizzi was great. He let me do my own thing, yet everything was very professional and organized. I like that on a shoot.”

The big-dicked (nine inches, cut) star says his favorite thing to do on-screen is suck cock. He is exclusively a top (“In real life too!” he is quick to add), and his favorite type of man is “tall, dark and handsome.” Maverick says he never watches his own movies (“You can’t watch yourself screw. It’s too creepy!”). In fact, he says that he rarely watches porn at all. “When you do it for work,” he says, “it loses its appeal.” But Maverick admits that he is a very sexual person and is always horny. And—good news!—he is single. “When you go to school and travel and dance on the weekends,” he says, “it’s kinda hard to find the time for a relationship.”

Traveling to clubs as a dancer takes Maverick all over the country. “Performing live is the most fun ever,” he says. “You get up there and get to be a rock star for a night. And the fans are great. It’s always a shock to me that they know who I am.”

And what kind of image does the screen stud hope his audience will have of him? “I have no idea how the studios market me,” Maverick says. “I know that they never make me smile, though. So I guess you could say that I’m a tough guy!”

Movie Review: White Trash

BY VINCENT LAMBERT

Director: Tony Alizzi.
Cast: Rod Barry, Trent Cougar, Clay Maverick, Bret Wolfe, Anthony Shaw, Luke Pearson, Chad Johnson, Rowdy Carson, Frieda Lay Brown, Sharon Kane.

Straight from the land of Jerry Springer, Ricki Lake and Jenny Jones comes MSR Video’s latest, White Trash. Although the high-concept box cover screams National Enquirer, this funny and twisted comedy owes more to director John Waters than anyone.

In the opening scene, garish Earlene (Rowdy Carson) sets out for the karaoke finals with her trashy friend Kitty (the hysterical Sharon Kane). She’s upset because her husband, Luther (Trent Cougar), wants to stay home and watch bad TV. But when we learn that hot nephew Jeremiah (Bret Wolfe) is coming over to give him a wet and sloppy blowjob, who can blame the guy? Jeremiah is one stud who likes to keep things all in the family, as he then proceeds to blow his cousin, Amos (supercute Rod Barry). Again, who can blame him? The pairing of Wolfe and Barry brings to mind another film classic, Deliverance, as there is much squealing and piggish behavior. Barry even spits beer at Wolfe while fucking him. It doesn’t get much trashier than this scene, but the models manage to make it work.

Meanwhile, Earlene and Kitty are serviced at the gas station by hot mechanic Duke (the beautiful Clay Maverick). After the girls go on their way, Duke gets down to business in the restroom with a horny trucker (veteran Chad Johnson) and a blond slut (Anthony Shaw). Things once again get piggy in this terrific threeway, which includes oral, anal and even some pissing.

Back home, slutty sister Candy (Frieda Lay Brown) divulges that her boyfriend, Leroy (Luke Pearson), stole a pig from the farm. Guess it’s a family favorite because Luther and Amos race over to Leroy’s to get it back. Leroy is busy jacking off, until father and son decide to rape and humiliate him. Again, there is much spitting, whipping and rough play. But fear not, these guys know how to bring home the bacon. (Sorry, that line is straight from Rick Tugger’s cornball script.)

White Trash
has an entertaining storyline, snappy dialogue and some good down-home music by Gian Franco. Director Tony Alizzi gets light, breezy performances from his attractive cast, right down to their perfectly awful Southern accents. The humor and fun never outweigh the hot and dirty sex. Who said trash was bad for you? (MSR Video)
