Short Takes: Marcus Allen Gets Life…and More

Porn star Marcus Allen (aka Timothy Boham) was found guilty of first-degree murder this week. He was convicted for killing former boss JP Kelso in November 2006. Allen was sentenced to life in prison without parole at the Denver trial, after his mother, sister and ex-girlfriend all testified against him. (Cold!) The dark-haired hunk appeared in more than a dozen films between 2003 and 2005, including Through the Woods, Ripe and Never Been Touched. He was also a Studio 2000 exclusive, appeared in Playgirl and was named Freshman of the Year by Freshmen magazine in 2003. Personally, we remember Allen from his scene with Alex LeMonde in Hot House’s 2005 film The Road to Temptation, where he was prominently featured on the box cover. Insert your own dropping-soap-in-shower joke here.…On a lighter note, another criminal/porn model is having his day in court. Taleon Goffney has pleaded guilty to two risky rooftop burglaries that landed him and twin brother Keyon on the pages of Details magazine earlier this year. Their mother, Towana, was also arrested and believed to be an accessory to the crimes. Both bros shot several amateur scenes for Flava Works a few years back. Taleon is already serving a sentence of up to eight years in state prison for committing another burglary one year earlier. He is expected to plead guilty to a similar incident in Philadelphia on June 26. Crime doesn’t pay, kids!…AVN Media Network has announced that it will consolidate all its monthly trade publications—including AVN, GAYVN, AVN Novelty Business and AVN Online—into one magazine. However, the company will still produce occasional themed supplements. Former AVN Online publisher Tony Lovett has been named VP of AVN Media Network and publisher of the revamped AVN Magazine, beginning with the September 2009 issue. “This move on AVN’s part not only reflects the direction in which the industry itself is heading,“ Lovett says, “but it’s also economically and environmentally sound. It just makes sense.” He did not comment on the future of the GAYVN Awards. Keep the faith, queens!
