Porn Star Interview: Diego Alvarez

BY VINCENT LAMBERT

Sexy Diego Alvarez lives in two worlds. After working as one of New York City’s premier DJs (aka Carlos Pertuz) for more than a decade, the 36-year-old superstud decided to make the leap into the world of porn. And he is doing it in a big way, filming five movies (including Closed Set and Prowl 3 for MSR Videos and After Shock for Falcon Studios) in the past few months with some of the industry’s top directors. We recently caught up with the Colombian hunk at home, where he took a break from both of his demanding careers.

What made you want to go from being a top DJ to being a top porn star?
Well, I have always been an exhibitionist, so I thought I would just do it more openly.
How does being a superstar DJ compare with being a porn star?
Oh, it’s two completely different worlds, but they are almost the same. Doing porn has given me the opportunity to meet people in a different aspect. Before, it was, “I love your music”; now, it’s more of a sexual vibe, which I like.
Was it a difficult transition to make?
No, I have no problem having sex in front of people. I’m used to it as a DJ, always having people watch me spin, seeing what vibe I’m giving. It’s the same in porn.
When and where did you start DJing?
I started in 1990, and I played in clubs like Roxy, Tunnel, Palladium, Sound Factory Bar, pretty much all the major clubs in New York.
And how did you get into the porn industry?
I was approached at IML [International Mr. Leather] in Chicago last May by [director] Tony Alizzi’s assistant, a guy named Patrick Allen, from MSR Video. I was walking around, checking out the booths, and MSR had a booth. Patrick asked if I would be interested in doing a movie, and I said I would have to think about it, but I knew instantly that I would do it.
How did you feel about having sex in front of the cameras?
Well, I have always videotaped myself at home, so it was fine. It was my own little thing. I destroyed the tapes afterward, so my lovers have nothing to worry about. Besides, I am always the one on the bottom anyway! (laughs)
What appealed to you about doing a movie?
I wanted to do it, the fantasy was there, but it was also a learning experience. Everything I do in life is to find out who I am. I wanted to learn more about the sexual part of putting it all together. In my music, I am very sexual. So by doing it, I wanted to see how I could channel the porn experience and apply it to my music.
And what did you learn?
I accomplished what I wanted to. It is work. I am very much a performer. I learned how much more sexual I can be in front of the camera because I am more in control. In porn, I know the audience is watching me, so I might as well perform, but I’m not performing for them, I’m performing for myself, doing what makes me feel good.
So, what is your favorite thing to do on-screen?
I love kink. I like leather-oriented material. I like spanking. But my favorite thing is to role play.
And what is your favorite role play?
I love to be a soldier boy who will do whatever needs to get done. I love to serve.
Okay, favorite sex act?
I love getting fucked. I love topping as well, but I have to have both to be happy. I am really very versatile, but sometimes I scare men when I try to top them. I am very aggressive.
Will you continue to do both music and porn?
Yes, I want to do both. For me, porn is just another creative outlet, a way for me to express myself. When I get in front of a camera, someone is paying me to do a job, to perform. DJing is a performance too. It’s all work. Porn is a hobby right now. I don’t think it will be a career for me. I have done it more for the experience than anything.

Movie Review: The Dark Side

BY VINCENT LAMBERT

Director: Kris Weston.
Cast: Justin Dragon, Josh Weston, Josh Harting, Tommy Brandt, Jason Tyler, Lindon Hawk, Johnny Brosnan, Jeremy Jordan, Derek Cameron, Adam Wolfe, Jacob Hall, Brendan Falke, Race Jensen.

The latest release from Falcon Studios takes a journey into a twisted world of sexual taboos, where a young lad gets down with the local priest and a son gets it on with his stepdad. It’s all here in The Dark Side. Falcon offers up its usual roster of exclusive and beautiful talent. Justin Dragon, Josh Weston and Josh Harting are all standouts, but The Dark Side credits also call special attention to the debut of Brendan Falke (wasted in a fine fiveway) and the return of Race Jensen, looking bigger and better than ever. What do they feed these guys?

The Dark Side opens with Johnny Brosnan tied to a chair. He is blindfolded and being held for the kinky pleasures of Adam Wolfe, who recounts tales of strange sexual situations that are meant to make Brosnan even hornier than he already is. First, we see the story of a boy (Lindon Hawk) who confesses his sins to a priest (Dragon) then ends up doing him right there in the confessional. Hawk and Dragon perform beautifully in this steamy sequence right out of today’s headlines. Next, five young cuties (Tommy Brandt, Jeremy Jordan, Jacob Hall, Harting and Falke) get off on some uniform/dress-code play. Again, this scene brims with sexual energy and excitement. In the creepy third scene, a man (Jason Tyler) pays a visit to the morgue and fantasies about his dead boyfriend (Weston). If you can get past the context, this scene is also hot and well-performed. Falcon’s favorite blonds Derek Cameron and Race Jensen return for the next coupling, a father and son who play on the kitchen table while Mom is away. Cameron is still as gorgeous and cock-hungry as ever, giving Jensen’s pretty pole a good workout before offering up his hole. This is a winning combo that results in the video’s best scene. In the final sequence, Brosnan and Wolfe finally get over to the dark side themselves, enacting a classic domination fantasy that includes bondage, spitting, pissing and, of course, sucking and fucking.

This scene, like the rest of The Dark Side, will definitely appeal to more kink-oriented viewers. The production values meet Falcon’s usual high standards, although the sound is spotty at times. No matter, this is one trip well worth taking. (Falcon Studios)

Movie Review: Trespass (Director’s Edit)

BY VINCENT LAMBERT

Director: Bruce Cam
Cast: Dred Scott, Patrick Knight, Jon Galt, Billy Wild, Tom Daniels, Scott Parker, Jett Adler, Dan Dirk, Makos Servano, Andrew Addams, Bruce Warren, Michael Brandon, Alexandros

Take the classic “escaped convict on the run” formula, add one dashing escaped convict (Dred Scott, pictured above), and you’ve got Titan Media’s exciting new release, Trespass. This two-tape epic from director Bruce Cam follows prisoner Scott as he hides out at a pastoral ranch where the cowpokes are hotter than the midday sun.

The action begins with a radio report warning that an “extremely dangerous” felon has broken out of a local jail. Titan exclusive Scott certainly fits the bill, with his shaved head and dramatic gangsta tattoos. Farmhands Michael Brandon and Jon Galt start searching for the fugitive but take a break and discover each other’s hard cocks instead. It’s not long before they are swapping blowjobs and flip-flop fucking. As usual, as soon as Brandon unveils his perfect 12-inch cock, the scene becomes an instant classic. He and Galt do some hot moaning and each cum twice.

Between sex scenes, we see Scott lurking around, making off with a gun and breaking the shackles that bind him. Now he’s free to witness all the horny happenings at this fantasy ranch. Makos Servano and Scott Parker put on a good show for him, complete with blowjobs, rimming and fucking. Then hunky Alexandros arrives and joins in. These three take turns to great effect.

Fans of water sports won’t want to miss the next sequence, as Andrew Addams hooks up with Alexandros by a water tower. They proceed to pee all over each other, drink their urine and even fill condoms with piss for some extra-special water balloons. Fun!

Dan Dirk and Billy Wild continue the manhunt, but not before partaking in some oral action. Then Titan exclusive Patrick Knight shows up, and Trespass really takes off. First, the handsome Knight frolics in the water with Wild and Bruce Warren, before moving under a tree for a steamy threeway featuring lots of slurping and ass-eating. Knight has all the makings of a successful porn star (face, body, dick), and in this scene he gets a chance to show his skill as a top.

But little does he know that Scott has stolen his clothes in order to change out of his boring prison jumpsuit. Knight gets some new duds delivered on horseback by supercute Tom Daniels, and he engages in another fierce fuckfest, this time with Daniels and Warren. Daniels has a gorgeous body, lightly furred chest and a sweet shy smile. He is also a bottom to be reckoned with. This scene takes Trespass to new heights, and what follows maintains that level of excellence.

After all his sneaking about, Scott finally meets up with Knight and proceeds to fuck the daylights out of him—after some heavy kissing and foreplay, of course. Scott is an impressive sexual performer, and Cam’s camera lovingly captures every inch of his rock-hard body and big dick. He sweats, strains, sucks dick, eats ass and pounds Knight like a man possessed. He also delivers an amazing cum shot all over Knight’s chiseled chest. Sex scenes don’t get much hotter than this.

Finally, Scott uses his purloined pistol on Dan Dirk, forcing him down, spitting in his face and cramming his cock down Dirk’s throat. This all leads up to some intense fisting, which is not for the lightweights in the audience. This is a long, involved scene, and Scott once again comes out shining.

Filmed at the scenic Hidden Springs Ranch in San Luis Obispo County, California, Trespass looks like a picture postcard come to life. Mostly shot outdoors, the film has superb videography and beautiful natural lighting. The cast is extremely attractive and gifted, especially newcomers Scott and Knight. These two will be heard from again. The sex here is gritty, real and at times downright nasty. Trespass may be Bruce Cam’s finest hour. Too bad the product placement for Eros lube gets so overbearing. When you have guys this hot, who wants to look at close-ups of a lube bottle? Oh well, all is forgiven by the time Scott and Knight show up. (Titan Media)

Book Review: Male Nude Now

BY VINCENT LAMBERT

Male Nude Now: New Visions for the 21st Century
by David Leddick

David Leddick has established himself as the leading expert on the male nude in photography. His two previous picture books, Naked Men and Naked Men, Too, are now joined by their natural successor, Male Nude Now. With this soft-cover coffee-table book, Leddick aims to create a definitive collection of the best contemporary work on the male figure. And with more than 240 primarily unpublished images from some big-name artists—everyone from David Hockney to Clive Barker, Pierre et Gilles to Nan Goldin—working in the field today, he succeeds with ease.

In the introduction, Leddick traces the history of the male nude in art. From the sculptors of Ancient Greece and Rome to Michelangelo and other artists of the Italian Renaissance, the male nude has been with us. And, ironically, the Greek ideal of the male body—smooth, hairless and voluptuous in all the right places—is still evident on any Chelsea street corner. Leddick attributes the ever-growing visibility of the male nude to the rise of feminism and the gay rights movements in the 1960s. The results of these sweeping social changes have made Leddick’s valuable work possible.

Male Nude Now is divided into seven categories, which creates a cohesive and structured way of looking at the art. (Leddick also provides a brief bio and analysis of each artist’s work.) For example, the section devoted to the Neoclassicists showcases artists who place their subjects in a modern context, but whose work is firmly rooted in the past. This includes celebrity photographer Greg Gorman—who captures former Calvin Klein underwear model Joel West, now sporting a shaved head, in several moody, elastic poses—and J.B. Harter, a painter who is a curator at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. Harter’s dark, brooding Trompe l’Oeil painting (one of several in the book) reflects his acceptance of the gay lifestyle following his divorce. David Halliday, another New Orleans artist, presents porn star Jim Buck showing off his Prince Albert with a sly expression. By grouping these works together, Leddick provides the reader with a range of creative expressions within a particular style.

The section on the Eroticists, who share a carnal thrill with the viewer in some way, is especially diverse. Writer/director Clive Barker offers a witty and provocative take on the male organ. Christopher Makos displays his trademark piecemeal style, calling forth the Warholian influence he is known for. And painter Peter Wyman uses color and broad brushstrokes to create a masculine feeling that jumps off the canvas.

In his closing, Leddick ponders the future of the male nude. He writes, “As artists continue to redefine what is erotic, what is beautiful, so will we continue to grow in our ability to perceive the erotic and the beautiful where we hadn’t before.” This comprehensive and sexy book certainly leads the way.
