Event: Will Clark's Bad Boys Pool Party 2005
STORY AND PHOTOS BY VINCENT LAMBERT
The bad boys of porn came out to play on Saturday, May 7, 2005, for the fifth Palm Springs edition of Will Clark’s Bad Boys Pool Party. The annual event took place at the wet-and-wild Cree Estate in Cathedral City, California, and was cohosted by gossip columnist Billy Masters, drag star Momma and Sister Roma of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. A record $64,000 was raised with the support of more than 600 fans, numerous movie studios, Web sites, a silent auction and such major sponsors as Gay-MART, which donated $10,000 of the $27,000 made through sponsorships. All proceeds benefit L.A. Shanti, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals affected by HIV, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
“It was a fabulous turnout,” said promoter/producer Will Clark, “and a great party. We generated funds that will go a long way to help keep L.A. Shanti providing programs for the gay and lesbian community in Los Angeles.” But the pool party was just one of several fund-raising events that took place over three days and earned $77,000 for a variety of California charities. A porn star dinner date auction at the Blame It on Midnight restaurant earned $1,000 for the L.A. Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Porn stars Rik Jammer and Bret Wolfe hosted the second-annual Pec A Palooza at the Barracks, produced by the Bare Chest Calendar Men to benefit the AIDS Emergency Fund/Positive Resource Center in San Francisco, which made $4,000. (The Bare Chest Men also worked one of the open bars at the pool party and collected an additional $1,000 in tips.) Another $1,500 was brought in at a dance party at Heaven, produced by Castro Bear for L.A. Shanti, and $7,000 was earned at Michael Brandon’s Inappropriate Behavior Party at the Ambiente Inn (including $4,000 from door admissions benefiting San Francisco’s St. James Infirmary).
Charity aside, the highlight of the pool party was seeing a who’s who of screen studs find their place in the sun. GAYVN Performer of the Year Tag Adams talked excitedly about his stage acting debut in a Washington, D.C., production of 10 Naked Men, while Enrico Vega and Caesar compared notes on their new production companies. Brad Benton and Brandon Lee exchanged love notes with markers on each other’s toned bods but remained mum on their relationship status. Rod Barry divulged that he is moving to New York, and Andy Hunter bragged about his box seats for Cher’s final farewell concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Jason Ridge attracted the longest line of admirers at the autograph session. Spike did naked body painting throughout the day. Ben Damon introduced his new missus, er, mister, and Nick Capra and Jack Ryan got better acquainted in the pool. Entertainment included singer Paul Lekakis, working his classic “Boom Boom” hit and looking porn-ready in a tight bikini, and Marshall O Boy and the Well Hungarians, who were joined by Chris Green on bass. Flaggers Dino Philips and Kevin Kramer and go-go guys Matthew Faulkner and Nate Bater also worked it for the appreciative crowd.
